Player goes to any coach, says hey coach, Bond is out of saban leaves, would we want him. and the process happens from there.

All done over the phone or in person. There is no paper trail. Its basically bond having to trust his buddy whsoe at texas that this is 100%. Which with kids these days is very easy to do.

Yeah, but things are different in 2024. players have 30 days to opt out, and Bama has no ability to bring players in until after spring ball. So they should get the right guy and take some time, but time is of the essence.

My hope is we get a home run hire, that curbs some of this, and bring some of his players from his former school.

But time is beginning to become an issue. Think thats why the 72 hour deal was so important to be told to the kids. We are 45 or so hours into the 72. Perhaps we should have given ourself a 48 hour time limit instead.

Bond already in, isnt the way we wanted to start for sure.

Mike Tyson said it best....everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face. I'm sure there was a GREAT plan in place, but you don't know what goes on in a candidate's mind, what his family is saying to him, how appealing the situation actually is vs. what they have in place at their own school. And you don't have to leave just because you enter. Bond is confident enough to believe that he will have the option to come back if he likes the new coach. Unfortunately it's just the way of CFB today. It really is the Wild West, worse than free agency really. That would be equivalent to NFL saying "If there is a coaching change the whole team can become free agents". Talk about total chaos...

It’s obvious that there was no plan in place, the admin was caught completely by surprise, and the results are showing. TBH, I am a little disappointed in the way Saban has handled this as well. IF this was a spur of the moment decision.
