I grew up in Tuscaloosa. My first date was to an Elton John concert in what was then Memorial Coliseum. Festival seating. Tickets were $6 apiece. Kiki Dee was the warm-up.I saw the Allman Brothers Band in Tuscaloosa around '74. Tickets were $5.
A few years earlier, the Rolling Stones were also there. And Elvis Presley. I was too cool for Elvis, and my mother wouldn't let me go to the Stones.
Tuscaloosa really did get some good shows in those days. Usually mid-week as tours were on the way between Atlanta and New Orleans, and Birmingham didn't yet have the BJCC.
