I saw the Allman Brothers Band in Tuscaloosa around '74. Tickets were $5.
I grew up in Tuscaloosa. My first date was to an Elton John concert in what was then Memorial Coliseum. Festival seating. Tickets were $6 apiece. Kiki Dee was the warm-up.

A few years earlier, the Rolling Stones were also there. And Elvis Presley. I was too cool for Elvis, and my mother wouldn't let me go to the Stones.

Tuscaloosa really did get some good shows in those days. Usually mid-week as tours were on the way between Atlanta and New Orleans, and Birmingham didn't yet have the BJCC.

Yup, saw Hendrix there. I dont remember the cost but I doubt it was over $5.

I’m beyond jealous.

I wish so badly I could have seen him live.

I go back and forth all the time over whether Page or Hendrix is my favorite Guitarist ever.

This is my Favorite performance ever though…

Nobody but Hendrix could lay that down live.

Everyone since is just a cheap facsimile in comparison.

I hear stories like yours all the time about how a parent passed down their music to the next generation. I’m so thankful that I lived through all the glory years of classic rock. With my music collection I could literally start a classic rock radio station😎
During the early months of the pandemic when there was absolutely no traffic in ATL, my now-senior daughter and I would ride around all over the metro to places we hadn't seen while listening to my favorite classic rock. So much better than the Swiftie fan that my 12-yr old has become :D

I listen to classical music in the car. My wife listens to the “Classic Rock” station. I got in the car yesterday and a Steely Dan song was playing. I had a picture in my mind of two guys with velour sports coats and a synthesizer playing at a Holiday Inn lounge.

Lately I have been listening to classic Rock music. There is one twist.
The singers are Romanian. They are really good, and speak better English than some of the 60s,70s bands.
One of my favorites is...
SHUT UP AND KISS ME. They do a lot of Rock and Pop music.
