Alabama QBs in 2024

The problem was that Saban and Reese basically gave up on both Ty and Milroe after the spring and their plan C wasn’t well received.
This is where I think it started to fall to pieces. Bringing in another QB disrupted more than we think.

TS needs to shoulder the responsibility of whatever he did wrong and try to correct that with what is seemingly a new, clean slate....despite JM being heralded as the incumbent starter and darling media he's become.

DL...focuses solely on football will certainly help. He probably sees an opening as well!

JM...all the talk about working on "mechanics" and arriving at the football facility the earliest is meaningless. When did he start doing that? Is getting there the earliest helping his weaknesses? Until he learns the proper timing and reads and can hit guys in traffic, all of this stuff is meaningless IMO.

The mystery man in all this is Austin Mack. I still don't understand why the media is covering him and the other guys at least half as much as JM.

There is ZERO evidence to suggest Milroe is just showing up early to be their early. DeBoer says he does it because he is working hard. DeBoer also said he understood basic concepts they introduced as well as anyone because he was working hard to do so. Arnold mentioned him getting there early last year so this probably isn't a new thing. IIRC it was Arnold who also said he is constantly working on their tablets in the locker room watching tape and stuff. Yes, I understand they are best friends but that is not a reason to think Arnold is making stuff up especially when backed up by the coach.

There is zero evidence that Milroe isn't working on basically every aspect of being a QB. These are all good things.

So I hardly think Milroe working hard to improve is "meaningless". It may or may not lead to him winning the job but it's not meaningless. And it is GOOD for the other QBs on the team that the perceived leader is working this hard. It pushes them to also work hard.

Because the majority of mainstream media no longer reports stories, they create and/or exaggerate them to get clicks and attention.

I didn't mean to suggest he was doing it for the attention OR not for wanting to lead.

"Meaningless" was probably too strong of a word, but I was simply trying to say the media is making this out to be more than it should be and his #1 need is film study and then creating game like conditions in practice for him to implement new, improved skills. No need to hash out all those things cause we know what he lacks.

Its a good thing online Fan Forums weren't around in the 80's. 1989's QB roster would have been a war zone on this board alone. I am kidding....sort of 😁

Which tells me they knew how bad they both were.
Yea. Brining in Buchner worried me a lot. I didn't think he was good at Notre Dame even though he won a bowl game MVP or whatever (a game he had like 3 Ints in).

I do think we are in a much better situation this year though

Yeah, I think we're in a much better situation than last year.

Pretty much. A staff member basically stood in a room of REC members and flat out said Saban told both of them in post spring interviews “Neither of y’all are cutting it and we are going to get a quarterback in the portal. If either of y’all want to transfer then we will support you and help you find a destination that best suits you”.

To say the least… I’m not entirely convinced that Ty is this night and day better option than Milroe like many think. If he hasn’t beat him out after 4 camps then you must wonder why.

Does that cah
Hence the quotes
Does it change the statement to say we’ve only had game managers or “game managers” who have won a NC except for 2nd and 26?

My point was that AJ wasn’t a game manager or a “game manager” and he won NCs for us.

I think Milroe working hard to improve and be a good teammate is not the same as Milroe "working the influencers to gather support for a promotion."

That framing makes it seem like Milroe is somehow doing something wrong by being a good teammate and a hard worker, which in reality is what we should want every player on the team to do.
"Ridiculous" was the word that came to mind when I read that.

This sounds more like Saban. Bringing in Buchner was an emergency move because of how bad Simpson and Milroe were in the spring and apparently, they did see how bad both of them were in practices. Seeing how bad Buchner was I wonder if Lonergan and Holstein was worse?

“Game manager” is NOT an insult. We need game managers.

Lonergan according to some prominent insiders was never going to get a shot unless the dam broke loose. The prospect of losing Sayin was something the Saban staff wasn’t willing to chance.
