I think the problem with our running game is we simply aren’t doing it enough. J&J are criminally underused.
We seem to quit on it if we dont get any yards on one run in a series..when we were backed up we ran once and then threw and got the penalty....punted and cost. us points...we are not committed to it. We didnt attack the edge like we did against UGA...with RB's, sweeps or Milroe....

This is the worst loss I can recall in over 40 years. There is nothing positive about it. Every player and coach should be walking home from Nashville.
Trust me, this staff is about to feel the pressure of coaching Alabama. The honeymoon is over...

The media is about to eat them up.

Good grief, drop the drama.

If Bama goes 11-1 they're not only in the playoffs, they're likely in the SECCG. Heck, Bama's probably in at 10-2.

One game doesn't make a team - beating UGA didn't make Bama undefeatable, losing the Vandy doesn't automatically eliminate Bama.

Goodness.
well, we haven't lost to Vandy is FORTY years, and we just did.

I've lived a lot of our lows, in-person.

I was on campus as a student when Stallings started 0-3 and celebrated the first win with the team afterwards at a raging party where I can only vaguely remember hanging with Oden and Morris as we collected more $$ to fund the kegs coming in.

Saw the debacle that was Dubose - knew many of the players and coaches personally.

Lived the fraud of Fran.

I've been disappointed before; hopeful we would/could improve. Possibly optimistic.

This is different. This is embarrassing. That's new. No other loss comes close. It's VANDY. really, VANDY.

DeBoer has said publicly on more than one occasion that that's his preference. Player empowerment. And that's okay. But it's not okay for a team leader and probably the most senior player on the team to behave in the manner that he did.
Well, I didn’t really like it when he said it and this game is evidence that it doesn’t work. College kids are not mature enough to “run the program”. Moore should be suspended, he was acting like a toddler on the field and allowed to stay in. How does a coach allow that?

And I’m sorry, DeBoer’s post game remarks do not instill much confidence. Not much taking responsibility for this coaching disaster and not preparing this team. To much “we win as a team and lose as a team”. No, sometimes the coaches fail the team and need to own it. He also brushed off Moore’s on field tantrum but, hopefully that’s just for the cameras and Moore will be punished in someway. If not then the adults have left the locker room I guess.

I feel a bit like this. Playoffs after playing like this seem like the least of Alabama's concerns.

Having said that, if Alabama wins out, they are in the playoff, no question. This just removes what was a sizable margin of error. Even two losses against good teams might have worked. This loss could end up being rated poorly enough there can be no other losses, so very costly but it in no way ends their playoff hopes.

I think the problem with our running game is we simply aren’t doing it enough. J&J are criminally underused.
Two biggest issues as I see it are the lack of situational awareness where Alabama's offense tends to want to kind of run wide open no matter whether or not circumstance calls for it. Last year Washington only rushed for 118 yards per game, this ranked 102, so it's not necessarily something the current coaches deem necessary.

The other is the defensive scheme and the coordinator implementing it. Even Golding with the Saban scheme, and offensive play calling more willing to run the opponent into the ground when the situation calls for it, and this is not only an undefeated team, but a team that probably hasn't even played a close game.

I don't want to gloss over the good aspect of this team, this is an offensive that can score lightning quick against just about anyone, but now we know some of the bad things that can happen as well.

We all lived through those years. I was at the Southern Miss game where they shut us out on our own field. At least Vandy is an SEC team. Next week will determine how the rest of our season goes.

I was listening to the post game show on the radio on my way home from work tonight. I don't know who it was that kept listing excuse after excuse for why we lost the game. It was we lost a 1st round edge and then we lost a 2nd round edge. We lost a lot to the portal. We have all new coaches. It's a different scheme. And on and on....
And I kept replying after each excuse out loud to no one, but it's Vandy!!!

It's not like it was LSU or UT or Texas. Or even arkansas or kentucky or south carolina. It was Vandy. This is a tough loss to swallow. Got our rear ends handed to us.

LA TECH 99 is far worse. It probably costed us a national championship shot and we had All Americans and future nfl stars on that team. And that one was at HOME.

I still firmly believe in Coach DeBoer but if you go back to last year at Washington, his team had a tendency to play down to comp a lot, struggled against Arizona State, Stanford, Oregon State, and Wazzu but at the same time he beat Oregon twice, and Texas.

Fast forward to this year, struggle against USF, lose to Vandy, but beat UGA.

Playing down to competition is a dangerous game in the SEC, even if it’s Vandy as we saw today.

There literally is nothing worse than Dubose years, the whole 2000 season was the low point of Alabama football. This is probably the best Vandy team in 15 years. We will get over this.
