I know we get tired of the comparisons but Saban's pressers were literally "get out your popcorn" entertainment. He gave insight to his why, he could take a question and find a way not to answer it and get on whatever tangent he had already preconceived. Deboer answers the actual questions and as you said gives coach speak. He needs to understand he is at the highest profile job in all of sports in America. Showing his personality and enthusiasm for the team, game, and what his plans will be will only help him with the fan base and the team.

What he needs to do is win. Winning covers a multitude of sins. He'll get a pass this season because of the obvious, but patience won't be a long leash after this season. Winning cures everything in sports.

I agree, but this weekend is a home game. If it happens again, then we HAVE to try Simpson. We can't let ourselves get out of playoff contention without even trying a different QB

Why not give him 5 more tries then if it doesn't work and we get lucky in play in the Birmingham Bowl we should give Ty a look...

Maybe. I feel like all I have seen from highlights are drops at FSU but I also haven't actually watched FSU since maybe week 1. I mostly meant if we had Bond, Ryan Williams and Bernard I don't think we'd be missing Benson

I welcome it. There's something not right with this team and unfortunately, it is starting to point to the locker room. It pains me to think that, but we're getting worse each week and not better. These coaches just didn't forget how to coach when they showed up to Alabama. Something "ain't" passing the smell test and I think I now know what it is...

If you are trying to create a new culture, which he is, why would you not use your platform through the media to hammer home what it is you are wanting your players to do, think, and live by?

I understand the whole "be yourself" stance but Washington is not Alabama. Part of being yourself and being successful in coaching is being adaptable. He had to adapt to Washington from Fresno State and Fresno State from Sioux Falls etc etc. Read the room. Understand what it is that you can do to excite and attract the fan base and boosters who fill your pockets and your players pockets full of money while you are building. He knows he doesn't have the roster that he would like. He knows it is going to take time to get where he wants to be. You have to give people a light at the end of the tunnel to be excited about. Giving cookie cutter answers while you are getting beat and embarrassed is not the answer. You said so yourself but now seem to be ok with it. Not sure which side you are arguing for.

They LITERALLY said the same thing about Nick when he went to LSU from Michigan St. "He can't recruit the south", "This ain't Michigan St", "He doesn't understand the culture" and a list of other reasons how if he didn't change he was going to be a failure. Nick didn't change and did just fine. CKD will do the same...

Not sure this is a good example when discussing being more transparent and sending a clear and concise message via press conferences. We aren't asking CKD to transform into a mutant, we are asking him to be a leader and answer questions with depth, clarity, insightfulness, and vision!

Right, this was part of the genius of CNS. I don't know what his IQ is, but in terms of leadership, drive and focus on things that matter, he is probably the most unique coach in the history of football.

When he entered a PC, he already knew the answers to questions no matter the question. He could figure out a way to get his message across even when a reporter, with the equivalent of a HS education, asked a stupid question.

So we've got to get over CKD's PCs. It's probably the way 99% of coaches do PCs. The GOAT is gone.

No, I just know what type of personality he has and it's nothing like CNS. He's not going to be the blow you away power point guy. He's not going to be the win the post game presser guy. But I think he will be the win A LOT of games guy and put more hardware in the trophy case guy, which at the end of the day is all that Alabama fans really care about.

Fair enough. Hopefully keeping things tight to the vest will allow him the time it will take to build the team he is wanting to create.

CKD is not our issue imo. Much like the fans, I think the players have held on to Saban and some of that is probably rearing it's head with a few losses. We had discipline issues the last two years. Players celebrated with Tik Tok dances in the endzone and Saban didn't do too much about it (he really couldn't). We had cancers in the locker room last year as well. Penalties were an issue. To me, it seems the issue is in dealing with a new generation of players.

CKD has got to figure it out as well. He's dealing with the hand he was given, a great hand, but not necessarily the hand he'd prefer. Obviously, NONE of us know the details of what he'd like to have on the roster at the moment. This season was always going to be an experiment for him, as it would be for any first year coach. Now add the height of NIL AND the transfer portal to it. You've got chaos.

I like our chances with CKD's style of coaching moving forward with a new generation of players and the direction of college football. CKD reminds me a LOT of Nate Oats. Basketball rosters are built very differently, but CNO has been able to retain a roster of high value NIL players and not lose a team to discipline issues. I think we'll see the same from CKD once he's been given some time to truly put his program and system into place.
