Questions about Milroe.

I truly want Milroe to be successful. Partly because he seems like a good dude and partly because I want Alabama to win games.

I will admit I know nothing about football, but to my novice eyes, Milroe looks like an incredible athlete that is still figuring out how to play qb.

Milroe seems to be a very inconsistent passer and I think he will have to run in order to be successful. So, why have all the designed qb run plays that showed up against Georgia disappeared? Did they work once but now teams have figured it out? Was the TN D line too stout? Just trying to understand.

It's a combination of defensive adjustments and our mediocre OL.

In the 2nd half of the Georgia game, UGA put double spies on Milroe, just as they had done in last season's SECCG to great effect.

Tennessee's DL really is just that good, and their DEs were able to set the edge beautifully against our sluggish OTs.

Very true, but imo if there really is something wrong with the ligaments in his shoulder, it is criminal to keep playing him with that kind of injury. That is not a “tough it out” thing. You have to rest and heal or else you will irreparably damage it for the rest of your life. So if he keeps playing, he either isn’t injured or injured badly, or he is just stinking it up. Or the coaches need to be fired for the way they are managing players.

I tore my labrum a couple years ago just doing pull ups, and it hurt like heck to move my arm even though I could still kinda do everything. I thought I was just being a wuss and strained a muscle or something and tried to power through it. Didn’t work, it got worse before I went to the doctor. It took about 6 months to “heal” doing physical therapy. Shoulder ligaments are not something to be played through!

Based on some of the posts on social media (particularly Caleb Odom) this team will need to come together this week or it will fracture completely. This locker room seems to be heading for problems, if they weren’t already bubbling under the surface.

And for Pete’s sake Coach DeBoer, stop this ridiculously childish end zone celebrations ( spinning the ball and acting like it is a campfire, jump shots by wide receivers, etc) and spoiled brat stuff.

I have had 2 shoulder injuries(broken collarbone with sprained/strained shoulder and a torn rotator cuff) they take a long time to heal. I would think still using the shoulder and getting tackled by 300 lbs dudes can have long lasting effects.

I’ve torn both my rotator cuffs. The right shoulder was a complete, full thickness tear. I couldn’t bring my arm up above shoulder high. The left shoulder was about a 3/4 thickness tear. I could still raise my arm with full range of motion, but it was weak and hurt like heck on rotation. Both needed surgical repair (mattress stitch).
Milroe may not have a cuff tear, but could easily have a AC joint (acromioclavicular joint) separation, commonly referred to as a shoulder separation. Generally, much like ankle sprains they are graded 1-6 with 1 being milder without ligament tears and 3-6 much more serious.

Milroe could possibly play through a Grade 1 or 2 separation, but it would be tremendous painful. In most cases, treatment would be sitting out a few weeks. I can’t help but believe, given the way he was throwing and missing so wildly, his shoulder or neck is banged up, or he has something going on between his ears.

You can look at numerous plays in every game and find this same thing. Wide open guys he just never sees. Plays that don’t get made.
I honestly believe he is being told who to throw it to and if it is not there then look for Ryan. I think Ryan and Benard have made him look far better than what he is in terms of intermediate passing

SEC now has an injury guy that works with teams to report player status, sounded like a newer thing they started. Heard interview last week, exNBA person in charge of it, covers other sports like basketball. Said goal was protect players and integrity due to sports betting. What’s different for sec is they can’t (yet) report nature of injury or illness, but schools are expected to report player status due any of those conditions. In other words if he was hurt, we should have known, unless he hadn’t revealed it to coaches somehow.

What thought was more telling yesterday, beyond the obvious wide open receivers, was the opportunities with open field in front of him to take off and pick up 10+ yards. And it wasn’t like he hesitated, it was like he was making a conscious decision NOT to run.

Unless this phantom injury you guys are talking about is a couple of detached retinas I don’t want to hear it. This isn’t the Oline. This isn’t the play calling. This is the QB. And if you’re wondering where this pass ended up, it landed in the lap of the guy sitting in row 5.

"integrity" yeah right. I would think knowing injury status would have monstrous effects on betting rather than not knowing injury status.

Short: Milroe isn’t a great quarterback for KD’s offense or any offense that requires quarterbacks reading pre and post snaps.

Milroe would thrive in a Gus or Art offense.
This really makes me think Jalen has some sort of injury that is unreported. Previously, even he could see the wide open flat or guy streaking up the middle. And he would usually hit that deep pass. Or, he could take off running, but he seems very hesitant to take off and run, but that's what makes him hard to defend. If he's hurt, he needs to sit and get well.
