Woke up with a sore neck ( slept wrong or something, getting old sucks.) I did not bike, ruck, or hike. Hope this isn't a bad sign of having a worse day.

Saban said something interesting today at the end of a film breakdown. Paraphrasing, he said that it is better to put a complicated defense on the field that is ready for anything than a simple defense that can be more easily placed at disadvantages by different offenses.

I feel like the more complicated defense has more tools in the tool box to use in different situations.

Sleeping is one of the easiest things to do in the world and you can't even do that right. Come on man!

The disadvantage is that it's just so hard and takes so much time to teach. It's the reason so few freshmen were up to playing in Saban's secondary. We're so thin and green in the secondary, I think that Wommack was virtually forced into a simplified secondary defense. I wouldn't be surprised to see a more complex defense next season, provided we don't have another mass exodus...

You are absolutely correct. Nowadays you have to run something for the young ones to pick up quickly.

I understand Alabama's situation, but disagree with the notion that you have to go simple.

I would rather have occasional struggles with player turnover any day.
