That was a nasty injury to Beck’s elbow. I seriously doubt he plays at all in the playoffs.

I think UGA is too much like Bama this year. Even with Beck (and who knows if he'll play), they were too unpredictable and and down all year. Yeah, the won most of their games, but they allowed very average teams to hang around too.

Their offense and defense looks suspect at times.

Don't know who will, but I just don't see them winning it.

This year has been so crazy I would not be shocked for a lower seeded team outside of the Top 4 to win the NC.

tOSU is good enough to do it if they play their best.

Out of the Top 4 I can see Oregon finally getting over the hump.

I think UGA chokes... just a feeling.

Texas could get hot and make a run.

It just feels like a wide open field where only a few teams have almost no chance.

+6000 odds means bet 100 to win 6,000. Bet 10 and you win 600. Bet 1 and you win 60. You would have to bet 10K to win 600K (potentially)

if the odds are -6000 instead of +6000 then you have to bet that stated amount to win 100. When Alabama is playing UMass, the odds are something similar to that. Must bet 6K to win 100 bucks, or bet 600 dollars to win 10 dollars, and so on

The punter is out for the year. Many, including Georgia fans, have no idea how big of a deal that is. I would argue its a bigger deal than Beck being out. Thorson is an amazing punter who has flipped the field and allowed GA to win field position battles. Without Thorson this year, Georgia doesnt make the playoffs. Without Thorson and Woodring, GA probably would have won 7 games this year. Special teams is more important than most want to realize

Boise State IS capable of beating ANY SINGULAR TEAM in ONE GAME in the playoff.
That part is true - especially if they get lucky enough a major contributor goes down for their opponent in the first-round game.

What they are not capable of doing - and their carefully crafted "let's play one team with a decent rep early" schedule - is beating 3 of those teams in a row.

If they were, you'd think they would have scheduled this by now, but they never do.

This bracket is set up as well as possible for Boise State to succeed, all the way down to Georgia being beat up in the SECCG (I spoke about that possibility at length earlier in the season).

Having said that, the best way to describe what Boise State does is they take a cheap sports car and run it at the drag strip against piece of junk cars all year and brag about how good they are. When they do finally meet a good car, they can afford the risk of running a stupid amount of nitrous and if they don't blow up the engine they have a chance of winning. The problem is you can't keep running like that.

Edit: The other aspect of this is when they finally run a into a good car, no one knows what to expect because they've been sandbagging all year. Meanwhile the good car has been pushed all year and not only does everyone know what they are capable of, but they also have more wear and tear.

The translation of this by the way to football terms if that they can afford to put all their resources, time effort, scheming into a couple games a year and gamble it all on that (kind of like Vanderbilt did to Alabama this year). Doing that over and over becomes far more difficult.

Keep in mind that is the moneyline, so the team just has to win. You can also bet against the spread which you are probably more familiar with I assume. Against the spread you bet $100 to win $100.

I enjoy it for cheap entertainment. I might put 10 bucks on a game as an example.

This year myself and 9 friends got together and each picked 1 bet each week and put in 5 dollars. Since it was a 10 way parlay bet, the payout was often around 100K. So for 5 dollars, we had the potential to each walk away with 10k. It obviously never happened. However, the group chats were fun and it kept many of us interested in games we normally would not have been interested in. A lot of entertainment for 5 bucks a week.
