According to Carolinablue.com.

Butch Davis will wait on talking with North Carolina until he see what is going happen at the University of Alabama.

Carolinablue.com has learned that Butch Davis is the top target for Carolina as it pursues a new football coach, but Davis is holding off while he waits to see what happens at another school.

I think that "other school" is Miami, not Alabama.

This is wrong. In an article on Carolinablue.com it states that Butch Davis is waiting to see what happens to Mike Shula before he commits to any other job. It also says that if he is offered the Alabama job then he will accept it.

How did another get translated into Alabama?

Days like these make me want to go postal on the ignorant. How could anyone in their right mind relate this to Alabama? Miami is the only logical team they could be speaking of. I share your quizzical thinking on this one. I can only hope we find out the answer this riddle!

Produce a link or something. This has to be BS on a Hiroshima scale.

The only way Mike Shula is fired after this season is if he loses to FIU or Mississippi State, along with LSU and the Barn. If he loses to FIU or Miss St., I say bring on Butch Davis. Until that happens, Shula will be here next year.

FWIW (not much to many of you I'm sure), it is being reported as Mike Shula and UA on Finebaum regarding who BD is waiting on before making a decision. The wheels turn, but this is not the year.

My impression was that the poster only quoted the "teaser" intro to the article, but that in the premium part of the article it specifies that the "other team" is Bama.

I don't give any credence to it. My goodness, it would take an utter collapse for Coach Shula's job to be in jeopardy.

I think the North Carolina job would be a big mistake for Butch Davis. I think he needs to wait until year end and see what else shakes up on the coaching scene. Houston Nutt with wins over Alabama and Auburn obviously spoiled his Arkansas hopes at year end, but I think something better than UNC is bound to open up at the close of the year.

Butch Davis did say he was waiting to see what happens at Alabama. I look at it as agent talk to get more leverage in the negotiatons with NC where he is being offered 2M or more for a long term contract.

:mad2: Puhleaze tell me this is internet fodder run amuck. We don't need this after a tough loss and two winnable (should be easily winnable) games ahead of us. Man, I hate this crap.

I thought I had read a while back about BD making some not so kind comments about Bama when we were looking for a coach.???? As posters have already said, this is just an attempt to get more $. There is no logical reason to give up on CMS so quickly.

Shula is not going anywhere. The people who matter(Mal Moore), etc. are pleased that he has accomplished what he was supposed to accomplish so far in the process. He won 10 games last year and those people I am referring to did not expect that. Remember what he was brought here to do:

1. Establish stability, and see Alabama through a 5 to 6 year period of troubled times from the NCAA mess. We are just now getting near the end of the effects.

2. Improve recruiting so that we can compete. That has been done and when the last 2 classes he has signed are upper classman we will be on equal footing.

3. Keep us out of trouble with the NCAA. Like it or not this is the most important thing our coach has to do right now, and the powers that be know Shula will do just that.

4. Finally, learn on the job. They knew he was going to struggle in certain areas, and they are patient with him. They needed someone loyal and they are being loyal to him.

Mike Shula is doing what he was brought here to do and soon that will include winning championships. He may need to make some changes in philosophy and staff to do that and I am confident he will make those changes if he thinks he needs to. But you know it does not matter what any of us think, because the people who matter at the University expect Mike Shula to be around a long time. In fact they would not have given him a pay raise last year and extended his contract if they did not believe just that.
