Bama Game Thread: Official PostGame Thread - Bama vs. UGA...

I can't have this conversation....because it still feels like Texas trying to say they didn't get blown out.

We got Bama'd last night.
Exactly what I just posted. We got "Bama'd."

What I'm saying is what your are saying, but I think context matters and it doesn't mean we are as hopelessly lost as some think.

Perfectly written and even some on this board don’t want to admit it this was spot on…it’s not about Grubb, Womack or any other coach on the staff or analyst behind the scene it is about the man who steers the ship. Leaving Ty in was unfair to Ty and the entire team. Trying something different - even if it didn’t work would have been better than standing like a statue on the sidelines doing nothing. And for those calling for Grubb to be fired a simple question who hired and approved his game plan every week. And for those concerned about the cost of letting a coach go a question how much money did he cost the University last night if we are left out of the CFP due to his indecision.

Many are too young to remember Coach Bryant but coming back from halftime he was asked by a sideline reporter why he changed QBs … his answer - I’m just trying to win a ball game…Selah
The actual response when questioned about putting in Steadman Shealy was " I just wanted to let the boy play" and walked away with Jim Lampley holding his... mic in his hand.

And Coach Bryant was indignant at the impertinence of the question, "I just told you, I'm trying to win the game."

The committee has everything it needs to keep Bama out of the playoffs now, and the only way we get in is if Sankey and the SEC stomps its feet. I'm not optimistic. I've watched CNS administer enough skull-dragging beatdowns over the years to recognize when we're on the receiving end of one. Time for the coaching staff to man up and look hard in the mirror. We've had two years of putrid OL play with dudes that are supposed to be NFL-bound. Our RB production is non-existent. I like CKD and think he's a winner, but he must adapt his schemes to the athletes on defense in this conference. We looked like a G5 team last night and that's unacceptable.

We are lost until we get fixed along the OL and in the coordination of the offense. I'd also add competent running backs with vision. I've seen too many times this year where our RBs read the block wrong and get tackled or don't see the actual hole or dance around too much.

Give me competent play calling and an OL that is competent.....we don't see Ty looking like he does at this point.

DeBoer is gonna have to hold some folks accountable on his staff.

Yet, Deboer is 2-1 against Kirby, including a win in Athens, in fact, the 2 wins Kirby has against Alabama were against teams decimated by injury. It is a wonder Tye did as well as he did last night considering the hits he has taken, especially last week, and what is with all of the hits on his knees? One reason he was not taken from the game, in my opinion, was Florida State was denied a place in the playoffs before was because their quarterback was injured.

If we somehow make it in the playoff at #10.....we'd go to ATM to play.

And then have probably Georgia waiting for the winner.

ATM has a good DL....we have a putrid OL.

That's the point we need to remember. We gifted them 21 of the 28 with short fields.

It didn't look competitive, but without those mistakes, we could have tried to stay with the run with D. Hill more, as we started out.

We probably don't win doing that, but we don't get beat by 21 either!

It was under 7 minutes. We HAD to go for it needing 2 more TD drives to tie!
No , I meant 8:13 to go, not 8:43, but it wasn’t under 7:00.. anyway, if you don’t make it , you effectively ended the game .

If A&M had won, we would still have been in the Championship game. UGA would have been watching from home last night.

You’re correct, and I shouldn’t post when tired. But overall point would still be true were that would happened.

Let me throw another wrench into the whole thing: what if Georgia decided to play nothing but back ups yesterday since:
1) they were already in anyway
2) it would guarantee another SEC team in the playoff, which is more money for Georgia as well

FWIW, the way we lost this game and Georgia won it, was EXACTLY the way we used to win under CNS.

Most of the time in games like this, the winning team just takes the mistakes of the losing team and captilizes.

Georgia had less than 300 yards and Gunner only had a little over 100 passing.

We just got beat by a familiar formula. It hurts, but it probably doesn't mean we are as bad as we think we are.
Kirby runs pretty much an exact copy of the original Saban Program. Well, except the speeding tickets. Like an Anaconda, every time the opponent exhales tighten a little tighter so they can’t inhale until you choke the life out of them. So Familiar.

Look, yesterday was no fun. I don’t know whether this team makes the playoff. I’m not sure they can get healthy enough to make a run if they do. This was still a very good season for a second-year coach navigating the SEC in the NIL era.

We won 10 games, beat all of our rivals, were the first road team to win a game in Athens in 6 years, and made it to Atlanta. 90% or better of CFB is envious of a season like this.

We were always going to regress when Saban retired, the question was just how much. What he did was never going to be sustainable once he retired, and particularly not now in the NIL era.

I can assure you that our regression could have been much, much worse than it has been for the last two seasons. Some of y’all really just don’t remember Dubose and Shula.

I’m probably in the minority on this take, but I’m just glad that we are still in the top third or so of the conference and are continuing to beat our rivals regularly in the post-Saban era. I saw Dubose and Shula take 10-win teams that were trending upwards and run them completely into the ditch. I’ve seen similar things with other programs. The wrong hire can set you back 5-7 years. This isn’t that.

The losses sting, but on balance this team improved over last season’s team. Recruiting is still very solid. The program is stable.

There are some things to be cleaned up. We are not going to be a run-centric offense under DeBoer - ever - but they’ve got to figure out how to make it respectable on a consistent basis. Special teams need some work. S & C may need to be examined given our injury situation.

Given that this year’s team improved on some problem spots from last season (turnovers, penalties, winning on the road), I’m confident we will see continued improvement going forward.

Maybe we make the playoffs and maybe we make some noise.

Roll Tide.

Does anyone here, after watching that mess, really think we deserve to be in the CFP?
Based off full body work, we deserve it as much as the rest. Almost every team has played a weaker schedule and some of the schedules getting in are a joke. Everyone wants to say a 3 loss shouldn’t get in and you have to win the games in front of you. That’s a lot easier to do with schedules like Indiana, Ohio state, BYU, Texas text etc. We look worse and they look better because they’re playing weak competition.
