First it was insurance. When that didn't fly he began with this call for escorts. This, with one of the largest fortillas ever assembled setting just outside the Hormuz Strait and in the Red Sea. To my knowledge no American warship has entered the strait in this conflict. The tankers that are bottled up are not going to risk their crews and multi billion dollar vessels to venture out even with an escort if escorts were possible. The tankers would be the target regardless. There is also the possibility of mines that creates a major unknown hazard.

There is a lot confusing about all of this in that there has been commentary that Chinese vessels are being allowed through?

If having other countries involved was actually desired it would have been wise to have not been so scathing about them in his previous comments and would have benefited from confidential discussions before jumping in with Natanyahu.

Al Jazeera usually reports anti US and anti Israeli propaganda but it is also important to understand that they are heavily biased towards the Qatari government and the Arab people. So it is worth noting that they work for a country that is being directly affected by the closure of the strait and one country that Trump himself is calling on to do more to try to open it.

I have seen reports that several Al Jazeera reporters have been killed (executed?) by Israeli forces in Gaza. They certainly have no love for the Israelis. As they say "choose your enemies wisely".

From an AI search this morning instigated by a false report of Russian Bombers landing in Iran.

Russian An-124 cargo aircraft have made several visits to Tehran in March 2026, delivering undisclosed, likely military, materials to Iran.

I would imagine that our satellites have a good estimate of this but it remains insteresting.

The Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, Joseph Kent, just resigned and his letter is devastating.
He says Trump was “deceived” into war with Iran, pushed by misinformation and outside pressure, abandoning his own America First principles.
