Link: Former Tide Player Charles Bediako Sues NCAA (Injunction) to Return to Bama

Not sure where this ends. We'll be playing against guys with a lot more professional time than Bediako. The NCAA seems to be just pontificating as their case seems weak (by current standards).

NCAA: he's not eligible because he signed an NBA contract.
Lawyer: Did he play in the NBA?
NCAA: No, he didn't
Lawyer: Did you allow a first round NBA draft pick to return after he played professional ball in Europe?
NCAA: Yes
Lawyer: Did he sign a contract to play professional basketball in Europe?
NCAA: Yes, but Bediako wants to play for Bama, that's where we draw the line
Lawyer: I rest my case

Really wish we could get back to some semblance of common sense rules but since you can't have amateur sports not sure how we ever get there. When they let that first round NBA draft pick come back it just opened pandora's box.

And the ramifications of playing/practicimg him and the court date on the 27th doesn’t go his way are….?
THat's what I'm wondering. It does speak to Oats' desperation as to our inside play this year. Bad injury/health luck WRT bigs recruited. This is a sign that Oats thinks if we stand pat we will have a very average season.

If he plays against Tennessee, and it later results in sanctions, well...

On another thread someone wanted CNO to acknowledge that he messed up on Williamson. I think this is possibly that acknowledgement.

Define avg season. Probably finish top 15 and elite 8 without and maybe finish top 10 and closer to championship with. Either way good to great season.

CNO will have a good grasp of what he can and can't do before he lets him touch the court in practice or in a game. At some point he may have to decide is the juice worth the squeeze and make an educated risk but the days of the NCAA slapping schools around ala SMU, Reggie Bush, etc are over for now. This will be interesting to see how it plays out and personally I'm 100% against it but as others have said, if the NCAA is going to allow professional's to compete then when in Rome do as the Romans do. Welcome Charles! :ROFLMAO:

Just heard about this on JOX-TMF. This is MESSED UP!
Don't get me wrong, I realize we really could use CB back on the team, but this just feels wrong. Love CB but I just don't like the optics.
I have mixed emotions as well. But I also am tired of playing European professionals on teams, like Arizona, Illinois, Purdue, Tennessee, Oklahoma, etc etc etc

I'm flabbergasted lol.

So, the NCAA is restrained from taking action against a NCAA player? I'm no lawyer but this is funky.

I hope that we don't get into trouble over this. We could go down a road to destruction here with sanctions. But do those matter either?

I understand that I don't understand anything anymore with the NCAA and its sports.
