2011 RB Propects

Re: Running Backs in 2011

Has something happened to Lacey that I don't know about? No one seems to be mentioning him...

Nope, as has been mentioned I believe we can expect to see Eddie on the field next year. Our RB rotation next year is going to be flat out SICK, even more so than it was this year. JMO.

Here's some good news:

Elite junior back impressed with UA

Madison (San Antonio) athlete Aaron Green may be the top running back in the country for the class of 2011, and after watching Saturday's Heisman Trophy presentation, the 5-foot-11, 186-pounder has a new-found appreciation for the Crimson Tide. Check inside for the latest.

Barring a complete meltdown or multiple injuries there won't be many teams in the nation that will even come close to Bama in RB talent and depth.

Re: Running Backs in 2011

Don't underestimate Jalston Fowler guys, I know he's considered to be more of a "combo" back, but the kid is a stud and should fit in very nicely with our offense.

I know that he has great potential and will report in spring but is it possible that we will red shirt him like we did lacy?

Seems to me that we are full up at RB this year; it will be tough for him to get PT. I would think Mark would be gone after his junior year (although I hope not); so why not give Jalston the extra year to learn, get stronger and the opportunity to compete with Trent and Eddie?

Smart $$ says he will get a red-shirt. Like you said barring injury or some other unforeseen circumstance we will be pretty full at RB next yr with Lacy and Goode both being in the rotation.

Re: Running Backs in 2011

I also look forward to seeing Jeramie Griffin next year as well. I expect him to take over Baron Huber's role next year. The way he runs the ball, he may be a more active FB than we've seen.

Good call I had forgot about Griffin and Mike Marrow....I wonder how they have developed. I hope one of them has good hands.

Re: Running Backs in 2011

Ok if we really want to hit a home run with one
AARON GREEN
he is amazing and is now considering the Tide. Curt is supposed to head down and visit him. He's from Texas but promises he does not care how far from home his choice is. He is a Reggie Bush clone.

Re: Running Backs in 2011

Is Hilliard any relation to Dalton Hilliard that played at LSU?

Yes, Dalton Hilliard is his uncle. That fact along with LSU offering and strongly pursuing him leads most to believe he will end up at LSU. He says LSU is his overall favorite but he still lists Bama among his favorites. As others have said he will be a tough pull from LSU.

i'd personally like to land aaron green
1. he's a good kid, makes good grades, well rounded person
2. while we will still have our power, grind it out guys, think about sending in a home run threat speedster when the Defense is worn down having to deal with a Trent Richardson or Jalston Fowler, and letting him dart right by

Barring multiple injuries I'd have to think it's almost a given that Fowler would redshirt next year, but we'll see, there's a lot that can happen between now and then.
