my biggest concern about Bernie is that he will probably find a way to lose more blue states than Hillary did. The Democrats goal in this election is to not to unite the right against them. Bernie most assuredly will.
He will. He will be a disaster for the country, should he win the nomination. He's a guarantee of four more of Trump and the total gutting of the judiciary, which most just don't seem to grasp...

The only disaster would be a continuation of the kind of Democratic Party we have had since Clinton. The path we’re on now is ruinous but most of you will be dead before that ruin comes to fruition. I might see it. My kids will certainly.

I don’t see how the continuation of the Democratic Party electing moderates is the reason we are going to inevitably fall when it represents the voters within the party and the country as a whole. I’ve heard for years that the progressives outnumber the moderates, but have yet to see proof of it.

if Bernie represents the majority of Americans then why is he running for the Democratic nomination?

Sanders is basically forced to run in an existing party because our poorly designed constitution w/r/t electoral structure necessitates a two party system. I don’t really give a damn what the majority of Americans believe or don’t believe. I don’t want politicians who are thermometers, I want politicians that are thermostats. What Americans may believe won’t change the inevitable end game we’re heading down if a great many things do not change soon enough to course correct for 20-25 years down the line. Just because most want it doesn’t make it the correct thing to do.

If you are predicting a progressives are the answer for 20-25 years down the line then you of all people should be on the “Best Trump at all cost” train. Another 4 years will produce another 2 SCOTUS justices picked by Trump who are probably not going to rule in favor of progressive ideals.

I'm saying if the progressive movement doesn't start soon that the accumulation of bad decisions made by the GOP and DNP who will continue to compromise to the GOP will result in a ruinous condition that will be unavoidable. I'm not just talking about the ecosystem. I'm not so sure that our right-wing rhetoric - as our middle class continues to contracts with no progressive left solutions on triaging those pains - will not just simply lead to us finally picking a fight with the Global East and getting a few lessons taught to us on the new 21st century economic Order of Things. And the pressures of global warming causing more famine and refuges certainly will play into our domestic and foreign aggression.

The fix to the federal courts is getting legislative and executive branches under progressive control then rewriting the entire structure of the federal court system. There is no fix that involves just 4 years of appointments after the GOP has spent most of the 21st century stuffing or forestalling the liberals from appointing the courts.

Liberals have nothing on the table to fix these things. They can't because it means a reckoning with the American Empire and Capital. That simply is not on the table as a negotiable item with the mainstream DNP. Having faith in American liberalism in politics is sticking-head-in-sand cowardice at this juncture. Their 40 or 50 years of consistently negotiating with political terrorists gives me no reason to believe they can actually govern us out of these conundrums.

@rgw - I appreciate your passion but you are going to learn that it really doesn't matter who is in office. Not enough people care enough to change their personal behavior in a meaningful way. They certainly don't care enough about the environment to change their politics. Reason won't change that. It will require something catastrophic.

It doesn't matter that we probably won't be able to make a difference at that point. Human nature drives our behavior, and passionate speech from well meaning people won't change that.

Well, I guess there will be a lot death, suffering, and likely the abject depletion of American power in the global community.

Maybe. Hopefully not. Either way, know that your struggle is not with one class of people or another, it is with human nature.

Alright, well go vote for someone who will make you feel good about yourself while nothing materially changes in this country. Get high off President Aaron Sorkin making you feel good about the American Empire.

you do realize that on the off chance that you and your fellow travelers convince folks that you are correct and get enough votes that all of your ideas would need to actually be put in practice don't you?

Actually, look up Sanders's Green New Deal. It is far from perfect but he has an actual plan.
