2025 Basketball Recruiting

How do we not have the NIL money? They said we're top 6-7 in the country in nil now. Highly doubt byu is even top 10. I agree he'll end up there, but not solely because of NiL
I didn't say we don't have NIL money but BYU is at another level. They signed Egor Demin in this year's class and his NIL deal is $1.5 million. Ryan Smith, who is the billionaire owner of the Jazz and soon to be NHL team is throwing money around there.

I can't read the linked article, but the headline sounds like it's between us and BYU for Dybantsa.

I respect @jjv0004's thoughts about NIL, but I like our chances.

From all indications, Dybantsa is a once-in-a-great-while kinda player.

Probably would be the biggest fish this program has ever reeled in. For that reason, I expect that Alabama has recruited, and will continue to recruit, him accordingly.

I also think that Alabama offers Dybantsa everything he's looking for in a program.

I like that he and Meleek Thomas are visiting on the same weekend. Might be to our advantage to have those two thoroughbreds in the same stable for a couple days.

... just my 2¢ :)

After all that I've seen and read. It seems like we have a real shot to get AJ and that is just amazing to me. I never thought our basketball program would seriously be in the running for a #1 overall recruit. And as Oskie mentioned, potentially a once in a generationish type player. I hope we get him.

Dybantsa visiting UNC this weekend.

Wow, the reports from some of those NBA scouts on Dybantsa are something else. I don't know what he is looking for in a school; he probably won't gain or lose anything with regard to future NBA draft at any school he goes to. He may want to play for a championship or play in a certain style or for a certain coach which could be a plus for Bama.

I'd think he'd get a good enough NIL deal at any school. Looking at a short wait for NBA money, the differences between NIL offers may not mean too much to him.

“In June I was at the USA Basketball U17 Training Camp. The setting of the camp had a couple of pre-approved media members along with NBA Scouts watching as they whittled down the list from 33 to the final 13. Sitting among the NBA Scouts throughout the open sessions of the Training Camp, during our conversation one scout matter-of-factly stated, “AJ Dybantsa would be the No. 1 player in this year’s draft (2024), next year’s draft (2025), and in the 2026 NBA Draft.”

“This thought process has been a common sentiment among scouts over the past few months of being able to watch high school prospects play live. Another NBA scout told me in conversation, “At this stage, Dybtantsa is the best domestic prospect I’ve scouted in the past 10 years.”

Jemison to Bama.

Obviously nothing exciting happened via basketball recruits this past weekend, otherwise we would've heard about it by now.

So we trail the boogs in AJ's recruitment?🤔

Well, yes ... according to ON3's RPM (Recruiting Prediction Machine) - take it for what it's worth. :)

That could be based on info after he visited Auburn back in March.

Here's another article that speaks to the assumptions being made.

As I have stated elsewhere - I like our chances :)
