ACC and PAC 12 Demise seems close (FSU officially stating intentions to fight ACC Grant of Rights… Clemson sues the ACC)

The thing though is that Clemson and Miami are really bad additions to both the SEC and B1G. But they all know something is probably going to happen sooner or later so they are desperately trying to get off the titanic
That is true but if you are talking about eyeballs and games then Clemson and Miami would be a nice addition to a Saturday's slate of games. Clemson vs. Florida, Miami at Texas, Florida State in Tuscaloosa...I mean all of those games are must watch tv. These are all name brand schools not a Rutgers, Wake Forest or Georgia Tech. Ole Miss at Auburn with a lake is a fun matchup.

Yes, it sucks that money is driving literally everything in CFB now, with zero regard for the fans or the spirit of the sport.

But I don't feel sorry for a school that invested a bunch of money on the gamble that the 'never-ending money tree' of a P5 conference would always pay out. They weighed the risks, felt it was a reasonable gamble and looks like they lost. Oh well, so sorry, this happens literally every day to individuals and businesses trying to gain a competitive advantage, expand, grow wealth, etc.

It sucks for the fans, yes, but I don't feel sorry for these schools - they chose this path. Many of them got greedy and now some of them are going to get crushed for it.

This is the real world.

Yep....I hope everybody's happy now......

That depends entirely on the market. I'm not in marketing so I can't speak to specifics, but I know enough to realize that all numbers of viewers aren't the same.

IOW, basketball viewer may well be, on average, more/ less valuable to advertisers than than football viewers.
That is a valid point but I have yet to see any data to indicate that basketball ratings were really less valuable, it's just that most programs don't garner very good ratings in basketball.

The trick is the basketball programs that do well generate a lot of revenue, for instance I found out that North Carolina made around as much as Alabama in tier 3 revenue! I've seen people here saying how no one cares about NC, but every bit of data I've seen indicates they are in fact one of the most valuable brands in college sports. It can't just be football...

Not much is being made of UCLA being the second most valuable Pac-12 team, but apparently they were in terms of revenue they were generating for the conference and that's why the Big 10 made them one of the first selections.

UCLA is not valuable in football, they are a basketball school. So it puzzled me to see people from straight from UCLA to the Big 10 and somehow gather from that, that this was all about football. If it was, UCLA wouldn't be in the Big 10, right?

The people making these changes - the ones who make all the money from it - couldn't care less what we think. They've proven that.

Whether or not CFB will turn off the hardcore viewers like Nascar and Pro Wrestling did remains to be seen, but what I once thought unthinkable seems likely now.

The SEC has some decisions to make.

I don't think the Big Ten was necessarily out to build an empire - I don't think they take Oregon/Washington without Colorado and Arizona bolting which finished off PAC 12 viability - but they clearly are now. Notre Dame is still the white whale, but the ACC schools will be targeted.

Is the SEC comfortable allowing the Big Ten to expand southward? If they are less than neutral to that prospect, then they need to be going hard after UNC, UVA, Florida State, and maybe Miami.

The Big Ten is going to target the top AAU schools of the ACC, and perhaps Florida State.

By the way, I've seen some talk that the Big 12 now surpasses the ACC. Really? How many national titles does this new Big 12 (are they going to become the Big 16?) lineup have all time?

I count one for BYU, one for TCU (they claim 2), and one for UCF.

As for the ACC, Miami exceeds that count on their own with 5. Clemson has 3. Florida State has 3. Pitt has 1, and Georgia Tech has 2 or 3.

Now some might say sure, but the Big 12 has a ton of potential with teams like
UCF and Houston. And while there no guarantee Florida State and Miami regain their prestigious pasts, I'd put more money on them than I would any of the new Big 12(16).

More conference shakeups (my best guess reading the tea leaves… and the internets)
… AZ, Az St, UT prob leaving PAC12 and joining CO in Big 12.
… ORE & Wash prob joining USC & UCLA and going to Big 10.
…FSU & Clemson prob leaving ACC and going to SEC.

See FSU AD statement below…

It’s on…

first two points look to be official now.

From KSL.com - in SLC, home of U of Utah:

Big 12 is getting 3 outstanding academic universities in Arizona, Arizona State and Utah.

UW is also a top notch institution for the Big10 and fits their profile.

Will be interesting to see what ACC schools - including FSU & Clemson - do now.

PAC12, you created your own demise with your hubris. Good riddance. Wouldn't it now be interesting if they become the equivalent of the WAC or MAAC.

I’m wondering if the Big 12 had wished they had held off adding the G5 schools now

Yuppers, let's reverse engineer it hypothetically: Wonder what kind of buyout it would take to rid themselves of LDS State, Gus Bus Academy, Cougarson and Rinsinnati?

I think you are right, at least from the standpoint of Cincinnati and UCF. Houston and BYU are better additions, but not by much than the other two. The addition of Arizona, ASU, Colorado, and Utah does make it a legitimate conference. So Cal, Stanford, Oregon State, and Washington State could be candidates for the MWC, although Cal and Stanford might get better looks.

What exactly does Prime Time Academy bring to the table? The Arizona twins have a combined two trips to the Rose Bowl (both by State) since joining in 1978.
