Game Thread: **Alabama LSU Postgame Thread **

Well, here are the major ones I remember going our way:

1. A pass interference call on a non-catchable ball
2. LSU was not given forward progress on a 3rd down early in the game
3. A no call for spearing the quarterback
4. A no call for facemasking their O-lineman (guard maybe?) on the pass rush
5. The interception by Peterson. I think there was conclusive evidence he got at least one foot in, probably two.

Your turn.

Great game. Ingram played great, better win Heisman. Hopefully Julio's TD is a sign of things to come.

Wow! For a newer member, you sure are going out of your way to show how calls went "our" way. Nice knowing you.

Can't wait for Monday. I think the main thing Bama did was run the football in the second half and wear down LSU. They could seriously lose to Arkansas now. We beat them up pretty good.

That pass was not catchable because of the interference. The spearing may or may not have been. If you look at the numbers on the helmet, he doesn't point the crown of the helmet, but leads in with his forehead. That's not a penalty.

As for the other direction - there are two that probably negate the safety: 1) bad spot on the kick, should have been close to the 5 not inside the one, and 2) should not have been intentional grounding in the endzone, had the ball not hit the O-Lineman's hand Ingram could have caught it. The "incidental" contact by Peterson with Julio that could have been a long reception or a TD. He looked down at Julio's feet right before his legs got "tangled up." Incidental my foot.

There's a few more that I'm sure others will respond with. I'm tired of typing. :)

I definitely think it was a spear and I was ....ed about the incidental interference until I saw the replay. As for the safety, I never got a good look at it. At first I didn't realize Igram was there, then I thought maybe the ball didn't reach the line of scrimmage since we had just run the QB sneak. Thanks for clarifying that one!!

The definition of a spear (leading with the helmet in college) is that the tackler lowers his head and strikes the other player with the crown (very top) of his helmet. This didn't happen, therefore it is not leading with the helmet. Your helmet will almost always be the first thing to hit the other player, since it's the closest thing. That is NOT leading with the helmet just because your helmet hits the guy first. You can think what you want, but you'll still be wrong. It's only "leading with the helmet" if the player completely lowers his head and strikes with the very top of his helmet. For that to happen, the numbers on the side of the helmet would have to be at or very close to 90 degrees. They weren't. No penalty. It's very simple.

I thought the "incidental contact" was incidental until I saw the replay. He clearly looked down at Julio's feet and then they got tangled. You can say it's incidental if you want, but when you look down to make sure your feet get tangled with the guy that's got you beat, that intentional. I know, I've done it and gotten away with it just like Peterson did.

I'm just glad all that Julio preparation during the past year showed so well for Peterson. He learned how to trip, how to pass interfere without drawing a flag, and how to cramp up during the most critical phase of the game. I hope he got a good look at Julio turning on the burners in front of his teammates. He should have given some tripping advice to the safety who had to take his spot. 15 yards would have been a small price to pay and they likely would have ruled it incidental.

I'll repeat what I said in another thread - Peterson interferes on virtually every play. When he finally did get called, he went whining from one official to another. LSU has no right to complain about the calls tonight. Just as many went their way...

You'll become current once you've actually read the thread .

Back and calmer now, bama won the game on the line of scrimmage, especially in the second half. They didn't make many mistakes, and capitalized when we did, that's how you win close games . Kudo's to Bama.

TideHSV, with all due respect, Bama got the close calls tonight. doesn't take away from the win, Don't know if we score on the int. but we should have got the chance.

The ball was downed on the one yard line, but an LSU player touched it on the 4 yard line. So we should have had more room to work with form the get go.

I am not going to say the incomplete on the INT was the right call. That was a close call.

LSU got was the benefactor of just as many calls or no calls as we were, if not more.

I dont think the refs had anything to do with the outcome of the game.

63 , I can assure LSU fans were not the ones unhappy with the officiating during the first 50 minutes of the game . As for getting a chance , the way things were going I'd think the odds were probably well in favaor of LSU not scoring since your team looked to be running on fumes at that stage of the game .

Like I said, I'm not saying we score, just that we should have been given the opurtunity. As for the first 50 minutes, we're both being homers, because I don't see how you can complain about any calls, considering the huge ones that went your way.

Big thing is that Bama was physical, and in the fourth quarter, we were without our QB, RB, and a couple of DL's. A slug out football game, and tonight, Bama was the harder puncher. Again, Bama played a great game.

You're so cute, OreBama. It's almost like you read my super-secret profile.

Bama won the game in the trenches. Plain beat up LSU. My concern going in was that while LSU has a porous defense, they're pretty good in the red zone. On the other side, Bama can move the ball between the 20 but is horrid in the red zone. I didn't like that match up at all. I was hoping we'd fix it in the off week, but instead we just decided to score from outside the red zone. More than one way to skin a cat!
