LSU = excellent Dline, good secondary and very good running game, led by a freshman rb and freshman oline no less. BAMA will need to contain Hill & Ford in the running game, and force Mettenberger into bad plays/throws. He gets rattled & frustrated when things start breaking down, and has difficulty reading defenses. Bama's defense will take advantage of that I believe, much like Florida's did.
Bama for sure will have to protect AJ; No doubt LSU will bring pressure and try and make BAMA pass to beat them. But I think we'll mostly see the same balance we've seen all year from Bama. IF Bama has issues establishing the run early, it wouldn't surprise me to see B. Sims in to run the zone read at some point early, as they've mixed in plays with Sims in almost every game all season for a change of pace.
This game will be a mostly defensive physical slug-fest early; both teams have excellent defenses with different strengths, but Bama has an edge in a couple of important areas, one of them being at the qb position and a more potent offense than what LSU faced before. Eventually, I think Bama's offense will break some big plays, and take control of the game for the win.
Should be another awesome game in a great environment.
