Andre Smith Update

Word is that he is giving the same standard report that he has at the end of all his other visits... had a good time, got to sit down and talk w/ the coach, and enjoyed hanging out with the players (Manson was his host). Claims that USC, UA, UF, and another school (can't remember which one) are all in a dead heat for his signature... also, that he is going to sit down, write everything down, consult his parents, and pray about the decision. Got to feel good that he's said essentially the same thing about every visit... helps put my mind more at ease about his expected commitment to UA. ;)

<-------------------- also will be praying

Follow Andre's Plan

Can you remember how big decisions seemed when we were all in high school? I can remember deciding to quit HS basketball & baseball in order to both participate and coach in baptist RA leagues. I had gotten my life right with God and felt really pulled between the two courses of action. I decided to pray, and I felt the answer came.

This is exactly what Big Andre' said he was doing. If you are praying folk, pray for each of these young men who are truly pulled in several directions. Also, pray that none will succumb to the booster recruiting tactics that amounts to selling their souls to the devil.

I think we should pray for God's will for each of these young men. As much as we want to see many of them in crimson, we truly should want what is best for them. I think you will find that prayer will help your attitude, as well.

uafootball, Andre to Bama is still not a sure thing. USC is still very much in the race.

I don't think it is. Yes, it is a possibility, but not a probability. As many have said before, he wants to go somewhere where he can be close to his family, so that he is not too far from his family, and so his family can come see him play. I think this is a reason he did not go to UF, LSU, or South Carolina. There are probably other good reasons for not going to those places, but distance was probably one of them (guesstimation: more than 4 hours, 6 hours, and 6 hours respectively.) USC takes a few days to travel if you are driving, and flying would cost a bunch of money. Yes, I heard his grandma or someone like that lives in LA, but he probably wants to be near his immediate family, too.

P.S.- Growing up in the south with SEC football all around you, no matter what team, with all the defense, history, National Championships, and football talk every single day, the Pac 10 would be a let down if you ask me! ;) (Because they don't have any of that)

Also, (should have included this in the post above), it won't give me a heart attack, if Smith goes to USC. My heart might skip a beat, but no heart attack. I just don't see a mammoth of a man (6' 4" 325 lbs.) born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, near the heart of the South (T-Town being the heart) and heading off a few days travel on ground to go play for a pass-happy team that has to score 50 points to win a game. PAC 10 football doesn't compare to SEC football and he knows it. Yes, if he has already made his decision, he should've announced to help our recruiting if it is us, but I think he would have enough class to tell CMS and staff, that if he was going to USC, that he was going there, so we could back off, and not waste recruiting time. I think Andre Smith, the Pancake man, will be needed lots of Aunt Jemima syrup next year, because there will be so many opposing DL on the ground when he is starting for the Crimson Tide in '06. Already calling atleast 10 Pancake blocks against the Gay Pride....I mean Rainbow Warriors of Hawaii come September 2nd, when BDS is holding more people than it EVER has!

Andre is a good kid and his heart and mind are in the right place. He's making sure he makes the right decision.

And I'm not keeping it a secret that I'm praying he picks Bama. :)

Yeah, you have to think if he was such a huge Bama fan, he would have already committed to help his program out considering our recent past. Something about him waiting until NSD tells me that USC is going to land him. Tomorrow it will all be over...no more guessing.

Andre Smith has said repeatedly that he did not grow up an Alabama fan.
