Another QB Recruit?

Well guess what? Scouts.com has one of his "needs improvement" as ARM STRENGTH. Go figure.

It's all relative really, most all high school QBs need to improve their arm strength before heading into major college football. Couple that with the fact that Star has only been playing the position a few years and the fact that he's a superb athlete and I don't really think arm strength will be that much of a problem for him in another year or so. JMHO.

This causes me some serious head scratching........& I DON'T have either dandruff, OR lice!! ;) :biggrin2:
Even considering this is true, I STILL don't get burning Fanuzzi's 'shirt for no "apparent" reason. Brings on more of the afore mentioned head scratching........:PDT_Aliboronz_27: :PDT_ow: mixed in with a large dose of frustration..........:banghead:

I believe the staff is still gonna try to redshirt Fanuzzi. He may have to come up with a serious hangnail!:p_lol:

Until our offensive line starts blocking better, and I am not talking about pass blocking but run blocking, our QB play is probably going to stay sporadic as it is now. We have to be able to run the ball to keep the defenses honest, if not then they are going to pin their ears back and come after us time after time.

Just signing another QB for numbers sakes ain't going to do us any good. Only if a 5 star QB showed interest would I think the coaches even consider it considering our needs elsewhere. Probably would be better off adding another running back than a QB in my opinion. But what do I or any of us know.

If our QB's could ever learn to not get us beat then I think we got the talent there already to get the job done. We can beat Auburn if we don't spot them a couple easy scores and then have to play catch up the rest of the game. Which ever QB playes the best in that game their team will most likely come out victorious.

who do you guys think will be our starting QB next season? Fanuzzi? GM? JPW? Star? Jimmy Johns? lol, jk about Johns.

JPW until someone actually beats him out for the job. Hopefully everyone will be much improved next year and we won't have to rely solely on one player like we are this year, at least that's what I'm hoping for.

So true. Almost every time JPW has made a costly mistake it is when the rest of the team is not clicking and he is trying too hard to make something happen.

We expected a good OL this year but surely they hosses we have recruited will have their chemistry and blocking schemes down pat by next year.

We should be pretty well set at QB with Mc (hopefully) coming in next year.

I think we sometimes forget how little chemistry the OL has been able to create this season. We have not had the same starting five since the Florida State game. Whether it be supsension, personal, or injury, we just can't seem to get all those guys together. Hopefully that will come in time for the Iron Bowl.

With the logjam at qb do we have room for GM? He hasn't uprooted JPW as the starter, NF and SJ are the future, and we have walk-ons as emergency back-ups. I'm not sure if GM will be around.

There is some chatter about Zack Stoudt. He does not have a offer but a possible walk on anyone else hearing this. Good blood line and good size at 6'4 210.

see my post at the top of page 2 of this thread....

wouldn't be as a walk-on, either....

Many continue to claim that JPW has little time to throw the ball. That is simply not the case most of the time. Against MSU on 38 or so attempts he was sacked 1 time and hurried 7 times. That leaves 30 attempts where he had enough time. Saban himself said the OL play was decent against MSU. JPW rarely drops and throws; frequently he drops and starts looking, not seeing open receivers, then starts scrambling. He compounds the problem by being very poor throwing off of a scramble.

The OL could certainly improve and likely will when the suspended starters (2 of the top 3 OL) return, but it is not the liability that some are claiming. It is the QB decision making, just like last year.

Discussion of our present QBs is to be presented on the football forum. Discussion of recruits on this forum. Let's not get the two entwined.

Not siting this post in particular but as an example.

Sorry but that just doesn't fly with me. Even when JPW has adequate time to throw he still doesn't properly go through his progression of receivers. That has absolutely nothing to do with the OL and everything to do with the QB. His decision making abilities leave something to be desired as well.

Yessssir . I've yet to see anyone along the OL stare down any WR's .

Would this be a good place to inquire about the top 3-4 candidates for the remaining two back-dated slots or should there be a separate thread because the time is so close?
