JessN: Assistant coach hiring tracker...

Who knows how it turns out. Our past two OL coaches were highly regarded and the OL definitely regressed year after year....

Highly regarded OL coaches could bring 5* recruits, like previous 2 coaches did. (and yes, they’ve sucked in converting 5* into production)

Yeah but good coaches usually take bad teams and make them better. He got worse year after year… I think just blaming the talent level is a little shallow.

Then DeBoer hired a horrible OL coach. There aren't many options to pick from. You think he's just a bad OL coach, and I'll wait to see what he does with better talent.

“2019 Colorado: 99th rushing offense

2020 MSU: 123rd rushing offense

2021 MSU: 53rd rushing offense

2022 MSU: 111th rushing offense

2023 MSU: 127th rushing offense

For a guy who's the OL coach and run game coordinator, he seems to coach a lot of teams that are terrible at running the ball”

that’s something I read from someone
And these teams didn't have a running back room like Bama! Not saying you but some people would grip if you gave them a 100 Dollar that it wasn't crisp enough, let's let it play out

In his seven seasons at UNC, Kapilovic was part of an offensive unit that established numerous school records, including points per game (40.6 points per game in 2012, 40.7 in 2015) and total offense (485.6 yards per game in 2012, 486.9 ypg in 2015). The Tar Heels ranked No. 8 in the nation in scoring offense in 2012 and No. 9 in 2015. UNC also set school records for most passing yards for five straight years (2012-16), peaking at 293.2 yards per game in 2016. The 2018 offense allowed just 10 sacks all season, theLfourth-fewest in the nation, and the 0.91 sacks allowed per game ranked seventh-best. LINKY

He certainly doesn't lack for experience.

I think CKD wasn’t just looking for “the best O-line coach”. I think he was looking for the best oline coach that fits his offensive philosophy.

This guy spent a ton of time at both Southern Miss and UNC under Larry Fedora. At both places, Fedora ran a very similar offensive system to what CKD runs.

Given what we’ve experienced since Kyle Flood left with Sark in 2020, I’m willing to give Kapilovic and Coach DeBoer the benefit of the doubt here.

Now that the staff seems to be complete, it’s fair to say none of his hires carry much of a wow factor. But I’m going to follow the guidance of others here, who are willing to trust CKDs’s judgement at this point. Hope for the best….we’ll have all season to complain if things go poorly.

I'm gonna take Westide's statistics. His statistics are more positive than your statistics.

Well good sir because intelligent people surrounded themselves by the opinions of others. Not just like minded. That way, they aren’t blinded by any biased.

There are 3 million followers on that page. All highly passionate about college football. The opinions come far and wide and bring a wealth of knowledge. It’s amazing.

When a a very large group of people collectively laugh at a hire, then quickly summon stats or speak from fan experience, negatively about a hire. It’s not good.

Thing is, while they don't carry a WOW factor with fans here on TideFans, they do with other coaches. Other coaches are going WOW at the staff DeBoer has assembled.

And as intelligent as they are, they are not experts or coaches. They're just fans who don't know much.

I think Reddit can be a good resource and there are knowledgeable people there, but I'm going to give the guy who is 104-12 as a head coach the benefit of the doubt over message board posters...
