This is what really irritated me today. I'm sorry Okie State lost their 2 coaches in a plane accident but hello, we lost 200+ in our tornados but I guess that doesn't count for some reason. Let's not base this on sympathy for Okie St because Alabama certainly is not getting the same treatment...

Agree. But Barnhard's point will become moot when OU beats the Cowboys and eliminate that possibility.

i felt that the sympathy ploy was downright revolting, especially in light of the fact that arkansas had one of their young players die tragically a few days ago.

I can't look at or listen to Brando without remembering him auditioning for host of Wheel of Fortune years ago.
He's a goob so what can you say? Bless his heart.
 
I just dont understand how the football you broadcast nationally each and ever Saturday which is the focus and envy of everyone else in the country is treated with as little respect and gratitude after you have paid millions for the right to broadcast. It is just utterly stupid to get on TV and talk about teams from other conferences having more right to play for the National Championship after you just weeks earlier broadcast the highest rated football game in the last 25 years. You know what you are going to hear when you tune into FOX or CNN much the same way when you tune into ABC football games. But I dont know why I should expect otherwise because CBS has been a bush league network for most of my lifetime. But most assuredly the arrogant drivel of Gary Danielson and the utter incompetence of Verne is precisely why CBS is what it is.

If Gary and Tim want to get on national TV and spout that crap someone else needs to be signing their checks. Thankfully, as a result of expansion, the SEC hopefully gets to renegotiate its TV deal. I would really like it if FOX would step and buy the rights - they do a really good job with their NFL games. And if it like watching their news there is no question everyone sings from the same hymn book.

Personally, I am sick and tired of media groups like CBS and Bham News exploiting that which makes their living.

If that's the case, it's apparent why they're consistently last among the other networks in terms of ratings. Alabama has the biggest fan base of the three teams mentioned, and a lot of people will watch just because they want to see Alabama lose again.

Somewhat .... but not really . It's simply formated to create talk and in turn to draw more viewers each week to hear what these guys will have to say . It's hard for CBS and guys like Brando to compete for mentions and tweets without stepping out on a few limbs from time to time .

ESPN does it too . Think back to Chris Fowler running his mouth after the 2009 SECCG - "Alabama and Texas playing for the BCS championship is not a foregone conclusion . The voters and computers will have to decide .". Fowler ended up looking like a complete moron for attempting to convince fans that TCU really did have a shot to play in the game yet I would wager that Chris didn't believe so much as a word that came out of his mouth .

not just that..but the fact that brando was trying to stir up bcs chaos through exploitation of a tragedy made me violently ill.....cut the crap brando!!!....we all know what his agenda is, he can't go five seconds without gushing over a "fly in ointment"... the fact that he was using something terrible like that plane crash to push his agenda made me want to punch that creep in the face.

Yep I heard that. Also the Hat when asked on ESPN the best team he's played all season. Yep you guessed it "BAMA" hard not to point out the obvious on T.V.
 
The BCS was set up to put the two best teams in the country head to head to determine the champion. It was not set up for the biggest tv rating. It was not set up to give someone else a chance. If we win tomorrow and don't get in, then the BCS is a joke.
 
I heard ESPN BCS "expert" Brad Edwards say on radio that since Arkansas was the SEC team most like a Big 12 school and they were no where near being competitive with Bama or LSU would OK State fair any better. He is of the believe that Bama and LSU are so far ahead of anyone else that the voters would leave them 1 and 2 as long as Bama took care of Auburn. He also thinks that even if LSU loses a close game to the Dawgs in Atlanta that LSU still makes it to the Championship game. I think since these 2 teams have proven to be the best 2 teams and the BCS is formulated to pit the 2 best teams against each other LET's GET IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
The entire CBS College crew is a joke! Verne/Gary are complete morons who in any other profession would by fired for incompetence! Brando and crew are no better. It is going to be gut wrenching listening to this idiots today make mistake after mistake.

That's true.

But you also can't say "every game is a playoff" or "the regular season means more" when you have a rematch, either.

Many of the same Bama fans here who are excited at the prospect of a rematch are the same Tide fans who say "we shouldn't have to beat the same team twice." Let's not pretend Brando, who is a bloviating fool who is paid to get a bigger audience, is the only inconsistent one in this discussion.
