It's a tough call, but if this was all about who is the most liked, Nick Saban wouldn't be considered the best college coach of his era.

In some ways this reminds me of how the Hurts/Tua thing played out. Now, obviously I'm not comparing Tua and Freeze's character, but there was a safe path I advocated for that Saban refused to take. You just redshirt Tua, you preserve a year of his eligibility, you largely avoid a quarterback controversy, and you're still fairly confident that Hurts can get you to the playoffs. That would be the don't rock the boat path, there wouldn't have been as much talk of transfers, as much strife, etc... It sounds like the path Saban took did almost blow up in his face, he took a risk, he didn't just play it safe, but he does have another championship to show for it.

So, I know what the safe thing here is. Much like I wanted Tua stashed as a redshirt, I want Freeze stashed as a consultant. The issue of course is, when it comes down to it, the the fans, the players, the parents, they want wins, they want championships. That's the pressure that Nick Saban is under, so at the end of the day he has a goal in sight and I assume he'll do what he thinks puts them on the path to accomplish that.

It's a catch 22, so to speak. It ought to be who is most qualified to do the job. Sounds like alot of folks think of those candidates in the mix (Freeze or Locksley) that Freeze might be more qualified.

But being a "good guy" matters too in hiring people (for any job). But, if it's about being "good" nobody would be qualified for any job (not to get too preachy).

So, Freeze's character has to be taken into consideration just like Locksley's questionalbe OC resume.

First time I've seen it to, I guess I'm glad you didn't finish your sentence. :) I don't follow things as closely as some here do, but I have been curious about the specifics of what Freezus did. Getting info like that is why I come here.
 
Probably prefer Lock as he has relationships built with Offense, if Hugh is hired it might be best as a consultant but however the Coach decides to arrange it works for me. IMO either are a major upgrade from Daboll.

It's now water under the bridge, but I was really excited to see Tua surveying the field with 5 options on that last play and 4 of them were open. Knowing he's got the vision and arm to hit them, I was pretty excited to see what Daboll might do with Tua's talents, but that's just me.

Again, water under the bridge.

Considering what Locksley did for Hurts this season and kept the locker room in peaceful manner.... I would vouch for hin....
