Bama Coordinator Search Thread

Interesting Josh Gattis left Penn State because he didn't get the OC job. With Locksley coaching this season and Gattis with co-oc title... This is going to be interesting next year.

Franklin assistant's wife "hotness scale failure" - or did Jimmy decide to bring back Bobby Shoop on the offensive side of the ball because he knows oh so well from UcheaT how to get "prolifically" scored on...

individually these are all great moves.
As a staff with CNS stamp of approval I am unbelievably excited about years to come.
He has shaken things up and we have some ace recruiters coming in. Daboll didn't help our recruiting. The luster of him working with Gronk wore off quick and with no real intentions of staying it is hard to see him completely invested. Just speculation.
With that we will still pull a top five class. More #1 to be expected.

If you haven't read this article I highly suggest you do:

It sheds some light on the Daboll hiring...at least for me. It was a mutually helpful, short term hire that was more profound than on the surface. It did its job, we got a National Championship, and now have morphed into something else completely in the span of a week and a half.

I did not clarify enough. I was not saying Daboll did not work out, I was speaking strictly of recruiting.
That story is great. Their success is definitely unprecedented and when you figure in the friendship. They have taught each other more than we will ever know about ball.

Has the decision to promote Locksley been made official yet? I cannot see where it has been. Not that I have a problem with it, but why the apparent delay in announcing it?

What kind of offense does Locksley run? I tried to get some details; he ran the offense at Maryland, which I'm sure didn't have enough talent to do a lot against some of the defenses he ran against. Those more in the know - how good an OC is he, and what kind of offense did he run?

Alabama's.

Haha. Saban will have him run CNS offense.
From what I have gathered. And there are articles detailing his philosophy.
I believe it is spread based with a lot of RPO.
While he has not been terribly successful(talent) he has shown ability to adapt to personnel. Led the conference with passing one year. Rushing the next. I know he is regarded as a top recruiter.
Not necessarily in the know but I have researched him some. Hope this helps.

On offense Saban wants explosive plays and be able to have well balanced offense.

There is an article a few pages back that describes it. He seems to be multiple.

I'll try to answer it for you as simple as I can .He has a strong rpo background but has run basically a multi style formation offense, so he's incorporated a lot into his formations . With the talent we have at his disposal, I wouldn't see a problem with whatever style he and Saban decide to go with.

Saban was asked not long ago about the best coach of all time and he said it was Coach Bryant - because he adapted and won by doing so. Seems the Process is ingrained to the nth degree with he himself.

And he has learned from Coach Bryant's mistakes. One of the biggest was keeping the legendary Ken Donahue too long. Or at least giving him major recruiting responsibilities. I give CPB a pass because he knew he wasn't going to remain the coach much longer and staff change would happen soon anyway. But maybe I shouldn't. In his prime, Coach wouldn't.
