I know right! This should have been a nothing story and has turned out to be the best college football offseason story since Pole Assassin’s pet monkey attacked a kid at a birthday party.

In 2003 #3 UNA was playing #1 ranked Valdosta who hadn't lost a home game in many years. Both teams were undefeated and UNA QB Will Hall was taking a knee to unwind the final seconds in a 17-10 victory for the Lions. As Will took one of his final kneel down's, a Valodsta fan dressed as a monkey jumped over the fence and blindsided Will. You had to of been there to believe it. I just so happened to be there...

I never thought Mac going to New England would be a bad thing for his career, but it turned out to be that way. Analysts and former players say it constantly when talking about young quarterbacks; where they go is a huge factor in whether they will make it in the NFL or not. I look at Brock Purdy and the offensive system he works in and wonder if Mac would have gone there rather than New England, would things have been different? I know he's there now, but he's now considered "just" a backup in the league, and I doubt he will ever get a true shot as the starter. If Brock Purdy can succeed in the NFL as a starter, I find it hard to believe Mac Jones couldn't, if given the same environment to begin with.

Two things:

1) Purdy is small in stature, not very elusive, and injury prone. Mac will get a chance to start at some point.
2) If Mac is legitimate at the NFL level, he will have his chance to prove it once Purdy goes down.

Who knows, this could be the next Bledsoe/Brady situation...

Where you start out definitely matters, but it isn't the end all be all in the NFL anymore. Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, and soon to be potentially Justin Fields are just a few examples of guys who were a real life hot pile of burning garbage at QB who have revitalized their careers after their first stops. Hopefully Mac can do the same.
