To be honest, it wasn't the most comforting article. AU is recruiting him as a RB and he sees quicker playing time w/ them at that position. He said that he is still committed to Bama, but wants to 'get to know' AU equally before the national signing day. I don't think he's going anywhere, but I'm sure our LB depth chart is giving him something to think about... even though I think he ends up at Safety.

There was an article a while back on al.com about him looking at Auburn as a RB. I doubt he goes anywhere, though.

Two can play that game. Would he rather wait two years to be a starting LB at Alabama, or play four years at Auburn as a RB, watching the QB be the focal point of the running game?

It also doesn't make sense because he doesn't fit an AU RB at all. If he's going to play RB, he's going to be a bruiser... not a flashy speed guy. I'm all for him getting a shot at RB, but it won't work in a spread offense.

I don't know. Imagine a spread offense with a bruiser up the middle. It would be good. What do you think Tebow was?

What Cam Newton is now.
...and also not a RB. Their success is predicated on the chance that they'll either pass or give the ball to someone else. If you give the ball to Calloway, then you know its coming right back at you. If you load a million guys in the center, then someone like Cam will give the ball to someone like Adams and they'll beat you on the edge.

Vegas,

Auburn runs about as smash-mouth a system as any of our best wishbone teams. Tricky formations, perhaps, but most of the plays are between the tackles. And their runners are much bigger than Florida's.

If Brent Calloway wants to carry the ball, he'd fit right in. Of course, if we don't get IC, he can probably carry the ball in Tuscaloosa, too.

I look at it this way, if he goies to the Barn as a RB I will not be concerned when we play the Barn. If they are just saying it to get him there and then switch him, unhappy players do not turn out well. Also remember we are still play for a few top LBs uncommited.

But in the end I see him at UA and no where else.

I think we get him, but the Iron Bowl may make a big impact. The inconsistent play I see from our LB core may give him quicker PT with us. Mosely is playing a ton this year. We have had at least one Freshman start at linebacker every year since Saban got here. Why shouldn't he be the next?
AU does have some depth at RB now too.

So does this man we get Spencer Region?

(I'm sorry. I should not of done this.)
bwahahaha. Seriously I've read rumors on the intranets about this for a while, don't know what to think. We'll be fine but I just don't like the idea of another Craig Sanders situation. He is a great player and would love to have him. I believe he'd make a great impact at the capstone.

IMHO I think he is a bit tall and runs too upright for an RB in our system, he may grow into an H-back though if he likes offense. I think his futures on D.

I think we can back up off the ledge on this one guys. He's been talking about visiting Auburn for a while now, and he's been solid for over a year to Bama. Seems like every week we start a new Brent Calloway to decommit thread on here or other sites. Time to chill on this one.

I could be wrong but he is shopping, and there is nothing wrong with that. Hopefully, he sticks with bama and there is no reason to believe he won't after commiting so long ago.

Lets sit back til we know more and we talk about it in the next "Calloway thinks about Auburn" thread

don't trip out about this! he's all ours!! and on facebook he was poking fun of their funs about how he heard a 1,000 times "hey you look just like cam newton" LOL....and i also read on his page where he told one guy that we offered him as an athlete, not just a LB. i think the kid gets a shot at any position he wants, ala blake sims, and he just visited auburn, he's been there a few times before this so don't get all worked up about this. he's all bama and will sign with us in feb regardless if the goobs beat us this year. He wants to win and he knows he doesn't fit in their offense and that they will be back to mediocracy in the SEC WEST after this year.

I might also want to add that this Little sisters of the poor attitude that their recruiting has been using won't keep selling. Last time I checked they are the number one ranked team in America. So they can't exactly be devoid of talent can they. Granted, they aren't as deep as we are, but freshman are going to be hard pressed to walk into a starting job there.

They will probably continue to try and sell that sad story but I doubt it will keep working.

I want kids who are more interested in winning championships anyway. Hopefully that's whats important to Calloway.

Brent is all Bama!! reading from his recent article, he wants to see other options available out there, don't blame him one bit. its a big decision in a young man's life. in the end though, Brent is heading to the CAPSTONE.

First off, I don't think anyone is freaking out... just talking about it.

Here's something that should make everyone feel a little better though...

Calloway was officially added to the Army All-American Game. He stated that he wanted to make Alabama and the University of Alabama proud. He also went on to say that Saban told him that we'll try him out wherever he wants to be at first, but in the end he'll be wherever he can help the team the most as well as where he has the best future.
