Chik-Fil-A Thread

I support gay marriage and believe Mr. Cathey is wrong in his beliefs. However, I couldn't care less what he believes. If I worried about the beliefs/opinions of every CEO or owner of a business there wouldn't be very many places for me to shop.

All I I care about is that he makes a damn fine chicken sandwich, waffle fries, and diet lemonade. I'm very much in support of that.

I hear you and can agree to an extent

I must admit to craving some waffle fries from Chic-fil-a ever since this debate began a few weeks back. At this point however I am done giving them money as I don't like where the profits are being directed. I am sure if I looked into I would feel the same about many places I do business. In this case however I really don't need to be eating fast food anyway so no big loss

Agreed. And to my regret, for years I was not part of the solution.

You're welcome to join us, though. Come on in; the water's fine. :)

I'm already in the water. a big chunk of our tithe goes directly to folks (all church based) doing on the ground work with the needy, homeless and hungry

92tide, Saul Alinsky's Rule 4 is commonly used against Christians. But, of course, you already knew that. Just imagine how many fewer hungry and needy folks there would be, if government gave fewer hand-outs and more hands-ups to help folks to be self-suffiicent. Too, many are sitting around on Uncle Sam's Plantation.

you seem to know a lot about saul alinsky. i have never read anything by him, and don't plan on it anytime soon

When the money I spend stops going to hate groups, I'll go eat there again.

a couple of days ago one of my wife's Facebook friends, who is gay, posted a picture of himself at chik fil a with an empty tray in front of him and a shameful look on his face and captioned it "why do these bastiges have to make chicken taste so damn good". i got a good laugh out of it.

I hear you although I disagree with the labeling of hate groups.

But I'm not going to start playing the game of who supports and gives to what. Although a bit different because Chickfila is private, I'm sure there are plenty of CEOs who donate to causes/candidates I disagree with. Donate with money earned by bonuses from me supporting their business.

Great! I don't blame anyone for being frustrated with Christians. After all, Christ had to rebuke his own disciples on numerous occasions, and you certainly can't fault their leader. I try not to get too upset, though, if some are not yet any kinder or more patient than they were before their conversion - it just doesn't help me. I'll try to hear your frustrations with a fresh perspective. If you hear me in here one day on a rant, please bear with me, too.

BTW, if you want to get really frustrated with Christians, try pastoring a church. It's amazing how something can be so rewarding and so frustrating at the same time.

Hate groups? I bet you he loves the people, just not the sin.

We all know that is not possible. We've been told that is not possible. Since I don't agree with the fact my cheating uncle steps out my aunt it means I hate him. I do not have the capacity as a human being to simply not agree with his actions. We don't have that capacity.

A guy I went to high school who's gay posted something similar. "I must be into self-hate because I can't and won't stop eating Chickfila"

Well love may be a little strong, but certainly not hate.

Because it came up again recently and I can't recall previous responses, I have an honest question for Christians who believe homosexuality is not an entirely personal preference (i.e., there's a genetic or other component one is born with that predisposes him/her to homosexuality):

How could homosexuality be a sin if it was endowed by their creator from birth? Are there other instances where God would disproportionately set a people up for failure/eternal damnation?

Blame it all on Adam! He shouldn't have listened to that woman. We are the way we are because of him and her. Why couldn't they have done the right thing and we would not be in our current predicament. I'm sure the pastors frustrate themselves because they are not perfect either. Many try their best to be saints, but in reality are sinners just like the rest of us.

I would say midget trannies but I don't want to get anybody all riled up.
