Chik-Fil-A Thread

That exact thing goes on in hundreds of churches across the world. We call the principal agents "missionaries" and we support them as generously as possible.

well they're obviously coming up short. there are lots of folks suffering, especially in our own country. one of the many things that turned me off about the religious right long ago was the rise of the moral majority. billions of dollars have been made and spent to tell others how to live their lives and post themselves on a pedestal rather than helping those in need.

just imagine how powerful of a message it would be for this kind of mobilization effort to be undertaken in feeding the hungry and helping the needy (and bringing much needed attention on those folks in need) in Christ's name.

Who would cover it? The mass media certainly wouldn't cover a bunch of Christians holding a food drive. Those aren't good ratings.

No, this is being covered because it's in repsonse to the original protest that involves homosexuals. There's your story line.

Just think how bad it would be if there weren't local churches who had a food pantry for needy families and a fund to pay their power and water bills.

Because there is still plenty of work to be done does not mean that those people helping aren't trying.

(said by someone who has not been in church service for at least 5 years)

well i will sleep well tonight knowing that the fundies put those homosexuals in their place in the good Lord's name ;)

many of those food pantries (at least in the Atlanta area) have empty shelves now and can barely make ends meet.

Kind of curious as to which biblical definition of Marriage those of you defending Mr Cathey and Mr Cathey himself support?

My guess it's the non embarrassing 1 man/1 wife (again with the embarrassing parts removed) kind and not the other forms of marriage found within the Bible

it's of course the one promoted by founding father, constitutional author Jesus ;)

You and I agree here. Many churches are all about more money, bigger buildings, gyms, etc, instead of reaching out, helping the needy. Joel Osteen is a prime example.

92tide, Saul Alinsky's Rule 4 is commonly used against Christians. But, of course, you already knew that. Just imagine how many fewer hungry and needy folks there would be, if government gave fewer hand-outs and more hands-ups to help folks to be self-suffiicent. Too, many are sitting around on Uncle Sam's Plantation.

RULE 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules. (This is a serious rule. The besieged entity’s very credibility and reputation is at stake, because if activists catch it lying or not living up to its commitments, they can continue to chip away at the damage.)

I claim Chik Fil A as my favorite drive thru for the quality of food and the outstanding way they treat their workers. But the extent I care about gay marraige is that I'm marrying outside my gender and inside my species. If the almighty wants to punish gay marraige, fine. Personally, I'm pretty sure it is not my job to judge. I tend to think it is His wish that I put my energy into love, not hate. And since I tend to struggle not to hate large crowds and those who mistake a counter for an alter, I'll pass on that delicious number one today.

I will continue to support the company dispite my disagreement with his (the owner's) veiws on certain things. Bottom line: CFA puts out good food and treats its workers right. That is more important than who marries whom to me.

I support gay marriage and believe Mr. Cathey is wrong in his beliefs. However, I couldn't care less what he believes. If I worried about the beliefs/opinions of every CEO or owner of a business there wouldn't be very many places for me to shop.

All I I care about is that he makes a damn fine chicken sandwich, waffle fries, and diet lemonade. I'm very much in support of that.
