Well Godspeed to both of them. This certainly hurts the team, but for Dee especially this is a blow. I feel like Alabama has the best support staff in the country though, and they'll help them along to recovery.

I wonder since this is the 2nd time Dee has had to replace this knee, if he will even come back at all. There are only so many tendons you can stretch to attach. So much scar tissue can affect his mobility and strength if he does come back. It may not be worth it for him. Could be like Anthony Carter and never really see the field again.

Also, does anyone know exactly how Deandrew White hurt his knee? They didn't show it on TV. Did anyone see it live? Was he cutting, blocking, or what?
Apparently it wasn't from contact according to Coach Saban..Here's a link..CLICK ME

I would doubt seriously that they would use his hamstring or patellar tendons. Almost certainly it would be a cadaver tendon...
This. I was talking to my orthopedist about Hart's injury this morning (treating me for a femoral stress fracture...running injury). He said there is no way they'd go any other route. He also said that he's seen multiple repairs on the same knee with other athletes who were able to to recover and return to form- at least to the form they achieved from the first surgery. Each case is unique.

Hang in there Dee and Deandrew; we're pulling for you guys.

Ah man, hate to hear that. Hopefully Dee and DeAndrew can be back better than ever. Sucks even more for Dee, because got hurt last year too. Looks like Drake will get some playing time now though. Too bad Chris Black is injured as well.
Get well Hart & White! RTR!

Agree! Really feel for both of these guys, and also for Fowler. I know it is discouraging for them. Best wishes and prayers for them. Hang in there.

Jeez, I feel bad for these guys.

I also worry about RB, given that our #1 is a little hobbled by injury himself. I would not be surprised to see Yeldon and Drake the #1 and #2 with ? at #3 for the final stretch. Hopefully, Lacy can continue to hang in there.

Still I guess you're "lucky" when you lose 2 backs for the season and neither are 1 or 2.

I realize that injuries are part of the game, but you have to really feel bad for all these players. The rehab process will be long and difficult, but now that's all they have. Dee has aready been through this once so you got to feel really bad for him. I know the team will support them and get them back asap. We appreciate all these players and pray their recovery will be successful.RTR.

Cyrus Jones worked at Rb in the fall. He is slightly smaller than Dee but would be quite the weapon both out of the backfield and into the pattern. I think he will get some work there again.

Very sorry to hear this news about your two backs. Best wishes for their recovery however long it takes. You have a deep roster and will adapt, I'm sure. RTR and get well guys...

Just had ACL reconstruction 3 months ago so I've done a lot of reading on this recently. Patellar tendon seems to be the preferred route for athletes. They will often do the hamstring tendon on women. Apparently women don't their hamstrings the same way men do.

My doctor recommended the allograft (cadaver ligament). He recommends allografts to everyone but high end jumping/cutting athletes, like basketball players and running backs. He would give an O-lineman an allograft. Allografts have a slightly higher chances of rejection and re-tear. They are also generally slightly less stable 1-2 years down the road. However, the upfront recovery is easier because there is less trauma to the knee.

Dee Hart will get an allograft unless he got an autograft the first time, unlikely.

One day they'll have a space age rubber band they'll put in your knee that won't break!

Anyway best of luck to these guy! Hate it for them.
