This young man has more character than CSC thats for sure. For heavens sake CSC wouldnt even shake his hand after the game.

JJ, we are proud to have you on the team. JJ is a class kid and i think will be a big player for the Tide soon.

I have to post my disappointment here as well. I was one of many who had rooted for Croom to the get HC job at Bama a few years ago and was angered by the comments that the decision was based on race. I knew that Croom had more class than to blame the decision on that, and if I remember correctly, he did handle it with class to begin with.

I think what has happened is he's had troublemakers whispering in his ear for three years now and he's grown to believe what they say. Now he's bitter and it couldn't be more obvious.

In all honesty, I have to admit that I don't know for certain that his anger is undeserved. But even if it were, a good man would ignore it and prove them wrong by winning and losing with class.

I'm so disappointed with Coach Croom and the poor attitude he's displaying publicly. Things of this nature will, and clearly have, filtered down to the players. I hope he can correct his own attitude; only then will he begin to have success at Mississippi State.

Relax guys (& gals)....all is still well. We are 9-0 after coming off of major penalties and actually have a shot at another MNC. We might get that shot...we might not...we might even shoot ourselves in the foot and knock ourselves out of it....but c'mon....we are where NO ONE thought we would be 3 years ago. Much less, last year. It is obvious that Mal made the right choice with Shula. He and his staff turned this program, that would supposedly would not be playing football in five years, around and have made them a national contender.

Listen...odds are that Croom will get that so desperately desired win against us eventually (if he lasts long enough) but he will NEVER dominate us. MSU will never be an Alabama, auburn, UcheaT, lsu, uga, or florida. They will always be MSU...like ole miss, vandy, kentucky, or south carolina. Good every now and then....winning here and there. Never consistant. Never good enough to get over the hump of mediocrity year in and year out.

MSU is like a kid in a fight who throws a punch then runs away...then comes back to throw a punch then runs away....and again, and again, and again. Every now and then one of those punches land (they even sting a bit) but they never stick around to win the whole fight. And for Croom to think differently....well....just keep thinking that Croom.

I have to disagree. I just don't see it happening and I hope it haunts him forever. MAINEly (*snickers*) because I don't see him lasting past two more seasons.

Croom obviously doesn't know the meaning of professionalism. He needs to learn act and speak like the head coach of an SEC football team.

This is what has been the most surprising to me, his apparent utter lack of professionalism (great acceptance speeches notwithstanding). I would have thought that one of Coach Bryant's players, with a minister for a father, and years of coaching experience would not act in this manner. I am so glad we did not hire him. As far as when MSU fires him, they can expect a bigger black eye from the press than we got for not hiring him. Based on his behavior after not getting the Alabama job, I imagine there will be multiple lawsuits for wrongful termination and Jesse Jackson will be down in MS leading the protests for the racially motivated firing of Coach Croom, despite his 8 wins over 4 seasons and losses to Maine and other Div. I-AA powerhouses.

Magilla Gorrilla just lost all my respect. He's only second to Fulmer in my Most Hated Coaches list. I am so glad we didn't hire him. I wonder if the Rainbow Coalition has gotten to him.

What's sad about this is the fact that it could hurt other well-deserving African-American coaches to head coaching positions at major schools.

When Tyrone Willingham was let go at Notre Dame, sure, I'm quite certain he was upset, and he probably deserved another season. However, he didn't shout to the press and he's not making crass comments to the press about players from ND. He moved on to another major D-I school (Washington) and let it go.

MSU may be too much for Croom. MSU may be too much for anybody trying to turn that program around. When he didn't get the Bama job, hindsight might have been for him to wait until another job opened (you can usually count on some turnovers in this age of college football). Whatver the case, it's just not a good idea to burn bridges.

Also, so what if Johns never plays QB at Alabama. There is nothing wrong with being a great RB at a great school. Better than being an above average QB at a crappy school.

Right Willingham handled the situation very professionally, even though I'm sure it bothered him tremendously. Even now with Weiss getting the big extension and some trying to make hay out of the fact that Willingham had a better start and did not get an extension offer, Willingham has kept quiet and tended to his team. Again, based on his background I'm very surprised at Croom's behavior.

I got really sick of MSU #4 standing over and taunting Bama players every chance he got. Worry about your own team Croom.

Croom...What a joke.

I have gotten completely fed up with him comments. IMHO I think he thinks he should have got the nod over Shula because he is black. I'm black and I do not believe he was a better choice than Shula. I really believe Croom would play the race card and we don't need that type of negative publicity directed towards the University.
About all this bumping and extra curricular, I had a chance to review the game again last night. IMO it was the MSU player grabbing Croyle by the facemask that caused the injury to Closner.

Just my 2 cents.

I hope all of CSC's defenders in the Bama Nation will finally shut up and sit down. Here is CSC saying in print what many of us knew all along......he is bitter and a small, petty man. It doesn't matter that he played for Coach Bryant (see DeBose, Cutcliffe, etc), he is a different man today and I'm glad we did not hire him (a big thx to CMM).

I'm very disappointed in Coach Croom. I doubt he will make it through two more seasons. Before he delivers comments on "class" he might take a look, as one example, at the play where our qb was dragged to the ground by his facemask by one of his classy defensive linemen while another one of those classy individuals pushed our center over in the pile right at the whistle, resulting in his leg being broken. And he's whining about bumping after the play? Sheesh.

I hope this gets a lot more publicity in Alabama. Coach Croom is doing us a tremendous service every time he opens his mouth or his team takes the field in defusing the criticism the University took for hiring Shula over him.

If the stories about him sending info about ticky tack stuff on Alabama recruiting to the ncaa is true and gets any decent level of publicity he may have a chillier reception than Fulmer got this year.

It IS beginning to look that way. I really thought he was a better man than this.

Which team was it last year that had player standing on the sideline get kicked out of the game afetr he slammed 1 of the other teams players over a trunk or table which was on the sideline 7 or 8 yards out of bounds?

I guess that was class.

What a idiot.

I had hoped he would do good but now I wouldn't care if he got fired today.

He should be ashamed to even Coach Bryants name. IMO, coach would be very disappointed in the way he is acting.

He just shot any chance of ever getting the Alabama job.

I honestly think he did that when he allowed Jesse Jackson to start screaming about racism when he didn't get the job. Maybe his point of view is, since the bridge is already burned, might as well nuke the surrounding areas while I'm at it.

14 Million Dollar Contract?

On Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville's recent comments about ESPN having too much power and influence over BCS voters: "I didn't read Tommy's comments. But when I get a $14 million contract, I'm going to get after 'em too.''

Croom has more than distanced himself from ever being even considered for the Alabama job ever again and if he thinks he will ever get to a 14 million dollar contract with Mississippi State, well, I hate to be one to tell him.
