He should be thankful that Bama even considered him for Head Coach. If not , nobody would have ever known who he was, much less hire him. I think he is absolutely classless and I don't care if he never wins another game.

Lol get the licks in while you can? Can people beat on them any more than they've been getting?

Heh heh, and we're the 4th best team they've played? What an a-hole. Score a point or shut up.

I cant wait for the day he is fired. Hope he never gets a high profile job.
Nah, it'll be more fun whipping his tail every year, reminding him that the better coach got the job. His racist and bitter statements are becoming the norm and are what he will be remembered by, while Coach Shula will be remembered for his class...

THANK YOU MAL FOR NOT HIRING THIS IDIOT. I am personally ashamed that he played for Alabama, and I would be glad to see him fired and out of the SEC. Hopefully after a 2-9 season, he will be fired. He is classless, take the loss and move on. You didn't hear CMS saying this kind of crap after losses in his first two games. We are #3 in the nation, Croom, and you are #3 in the state of Mississippi. Take that.

JJ comments remind me of the saying, "Bleed The Crimson." When a player plays for the team and not for himself, he show intergrity and honor. His remarks remind me of the old Crimson Tide under Bear. I am really pumped for the next 2 weeks now.

In his defense, he gave Bama props as well...just wanted to give his good comments equal time ;)

"We just had a tough, tough football game with Alabama,'' Croom said. "You Alabama fans, don't take this personal. They're not a great football team, but they know how to win. That's what Alabama has always been about - knowing how to win. I'm hoping people will say the same thing about Mississippi State one day.

"We've played three or four teams that are better (than Alabama) from a talent standpoint, but they know how to get it done,'' said Croom, one of the three finalists for the Alabama job three years ago along with Shula and former Tider Richard Williamson.

"The bottom line is, we played the best game we've played all year and it wasn't enough. Our fans don't want to hear it, but we're a much better football team now than we were last year. Never at any time last year were we a football team.''

"Good comments"? Backhanded compliments at best!

As for Croom's comments about lack of class, pushing, bumping, etc. First of all, he got it completely wrong. However, if (BIG IF) Bama were guilty of what he accused us of, then...all I would have to say is...

Hello, Kettle...this is the Pot!

I always thought Croom was a good player and a good assistant. I'm certain that his resume was such that he deserved an opportunity to be a head coach somewhere. However, never for one minute did I think that he was the man for Bama. I was scared to death that AD MM and co. would cave to JJ's mouthing off and give Croom a shot. Thank God they didn't!

I am totally embarrassed over the fact that Croom has any connection to Bama. I'm even embarrassed for the MSU program (and believe me, that's hard for me to say!) Croom is proving what a classless, bitter, small man that he really is. I give him two more seasons at MSU--Max. Maybe some NFL team will allow him a job as an assistant some day. I don't think any NCAA team will ever want him as their coach. Perhaps an HBU/HBC will give him a look.

Shula should definitely take his name off the award! Heck, UA should consider requesting that he return his degree! Are his foot/handprints in the Walk of Fame on the Quad? If so, I say we get some wet concrete and go out there and fill them in!

Stepping off of my soapbox, now.

Maybe y'all didn't take it that way, but IMO, it's a much greater compliment to be a less talented team who wins than a more talented team who wins...That speaks towards coaching and heart...Maybe I'm the only one that saw it that way

truly sad....all he is doing is making himself look really bad....for someone who talks so much about class needs to quit with the sour grapes...

Well...

what can he say? "We suck so bad that the worst team in the league could beat us with one arm tied behind their backs, but we played over our heads?" "Try as we might, we could only break one leg?" He said the bare minimum, complimentary-wise, that he could say, in order to work his shots in.

I will say this since no one else has....

(at least I did not read it anywhere on this thread).....We all know that Croom was hired as a slap in the face of Alabama. It was msu's way of "one upping" Alabama the only way they felt they could. Croom got the job BECAUSE he was considered for the UA job. Not b/c he was necessarily the best man for the job.....well, maybe he was....we are talking about State.
Plus, msu knew that the positive press of hiring Croom would help overshadow the NCAA issues that were surrounding them.

This is what has been the most surprising to me, his apparent utter lack of professionalism (great acceptance speeches notwithstanding). I would have thought that one of Coach Bryant's players, with a minister for a father, and years of coaching experience would not act in this manner. I am so glad we did not hire him. As far as when MSU fires him, they can expect a bigger black eye from the press than we got for not hiring him. Based on his behavior after not getting the Alabama job, I imagine there will be multiple lawsuits for wrongful termination and Jesse Jackson will be down in MS leading the protests for the racially motivated firing of Coach Croom, despite his 8 wins over 4 seasons and losses to Maine and other Div. I-AA powerhouses.
Jesse will no doubt blame Alabama for sly getting fired when it happens.

I think your looking at each comment as a seperate statement being unrelated to the others. But when I look at him say that we lack class, and then he says we aren't a great team....it causes one to view the statement as more negative than positive. The comment about the 14$ mil contract also hints at negative undertones in his statements. No one but CSC can truly know what he intended, but it seems that everything he said had at least some sort of negativity to it, so I don't think he deserves the benefit of the doubt on that statement.
