DE Jadeveon Clowney

Well, I have watched his tape, and it is an extensive one with many plays of him at DE, and I would say that this guy plays his true freshman season.

He reminds me of a Jim Marshall of the Minnesota Vikings, except he is probably just a little bit bigger, faster, and more fluid and athletic. He sticks out on tape from the rest as if he were, well, a movie star. I like this guy.

If he does have Bama in his top three, along with Clemson and SCar, then it could mean one of two things. Either he just wants his name connected with the current national champion, or else he is a "homer" who is so genuinely impressed with Saban and company that he is willing to leave South Carolina.

This guy is an instant pass rush -- you who say that he won't start right off -- have you watched his tape?

Saban has said of him something like this: you see a lot of players around the country who are this athletic, but rarely do you see one this athletic who is this big. You can tell that just by looking at the tape.

We get him and we won't have to wait on a pass rush. He comes here, he probably will be the #1 NFL draft pick in three years. You don't get pass rushers like this every day. Those who rate him #1 in the country know this. A pass rusher like this immediately makes your defense more than just a defense. Remember Curry and Copeland?

This guy has already told his high school coaches that if he makes the NFL, he will buy them an indoor practice facility. Now who do you know who can point him in that direction better than anyone else?

I say we have a good chance here.

I agree that Saban probably gives him the best chance to be drafted high... but Butch Davis will probably have two defensive linemen drafted in the 1st round next April (Quinn and Austin)...

I agree things could change a lot from till NSD, but as of right now he's doing the Lattimore thing

I do think USC he where he will end up but the longer he waits(NSD) are chances will improve. I also think how USC performs this season will make a big difference regarding where he will go. USC is last years Ole Miss for the 2010 season. Alot of high expectations that if they are not met it will really hinder them on the recruiting trail this year. But again along time until NSD.

Considering he changed his cell number (per the article on pg 3 of this thread) to stay away from recruiting website interviews etc, I think we'll be guessing on him until the day he commits. Anything until then is opinion.

Considering the Barn is different the considering Bama. People love to screw with Auburn. But you flirt with Bama and you end up falling in love. That's just how it happens. I've seen it before many a times. Boy meets Bama, boy sees Dareus dominate USCe, boy's heart is Bama's forever.

Well to be fair, he also got to see Clifton Geathers terrifying McElroy in last year's game. Damn you Ingram! :frown:

Yeah you're right. And he was very terrifying chasing UConn QB Zach Frazer around Legion Field in the PapaJohns.com Bowl while Marcel Dareus was becoming an Alabama Icon at the Rose Bowl. But to each his own. :) :BigA:

Didn't they lose that game?

If we were talking about an offensive player, I would say that there's a 100% chance he ends up at South Carolina in the end. However, he's not. And I like Alabama's chances with Saban, Smart, Davis, and Burns after him.

Good comeback! ;)

If playing for championships is important to Clowney then I like our chances an awful lot. :D

:rofl::rofl: this post is very funny, but at the same so very true!!

Yeah. Worst coached game I have ever seen .

South Carolina had no offensive line or running backs coach at the bowl game because Wolford , who was in charge of both, left for the head coaching job at Youngstown State. Wolford also helped coach Garcia, since Garcia was part of the running game in their offense. They were stuck with a graduate assistant helping out. Clowney knows all this.

if you're the #1 prospect in the nation, South Carolina wouldn't be a realistic choice to play college ball regardless of what position you play or where you're from. if your goal is to work hard enough to have great success in college football, and also get the exposure needed to guarantee being a top level NFL draft pick, you go to one of the power programs. he's likely just keeping South Carolina on his short list to keep the home folks off his back. realistically, he will end up at a place like Bama, North Carolina (although they're a stretch being really a basketball school), Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, etc. I hope we get him though. It would be awesome for him, and for us.

Read between the lines concerning Blakesmash's words.

He said many of the same things in reference to John Fulton. It seems that So Car is the favorite but quite frankly y'all don't really know what he is thinking either. You think you do but you don't.

How about the 12 games prior to the bowl?

Great post...

We aren't talking about "just some 3 star prospect", we are talking about a kid that has everyone's attention in the country. Now I know that in the movies, the hot girl at school sometimes dates the geek, but that is Hollywood, and not college football and reality!!!

Clowney will end up at an upper tier school, ala Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, etc. Since none of the above is in his favorites except for one, you can guess where I believe he will go.

JC will also keep a keen eye on how things unfold this fall, as has been said many times. I think you will see a South Carolina team that will be mediocre much like they have been since Spurrier has arrived. He has proven that he can not win at that school and has had plenty of time to turn that program around. JC, as with any top h.s. prospect, is looking to go to a school that gives him 2 things...1. A chance to win a NC. 2. A great chance to showcase his talents and prepare him for the next level, NFL. JC will not be the athlete that changes USC into a national contender, no disrepect to him, but football is a team sport, but he is the type of athlete that could contribute on a team already loaded with stars (Alabama) and showcase his skills on National Television week after week while racking up accolades and NC rings!

As for the USC homers, I do respect your opinion, sometimes, but lets be realistic here, besides him being from your state, USC offers very little (ok, nothing!) that Alabama doesn't already have...
