Mike Farrell's article is up on Rival's recruiting site (article is free). It talks about how all the remaining 5 stars have Bama on their list. He talks about George Farmer and Malcolm Brown and states "Bama has little to no shot at either prospect". I found this statement about Brown surprising. Thoughts/comments?

Most folks take what Farrell says with more than a few grains of salt. He says that Bama has no chance with RB Malcolm Brown and that is completely the opposite of Brown's public statements that he is down to either Texas or Bama and he is having a tough time making a decision.

Other than that the Weekly Whispers article has a lot of good Bama recruiting info, especially on Clowney.

Here is one more article with some Clowney info.

Count me as one of those guys. The tough part here is I find my homer self thinking he's speaking the truth when he says good things about Bama recruiting. :biggrin2: I've come to really like our BOL guy, Shane Youngblood. He's not afraid to simply say, "Hey, I don't know. I haven't been able to talk to recruit ABC." I'd rather have that then a guess that any of us can make.

I think the problem w/ Farrell is that he feels it necessary to state where every kid is 'leaning'. Like if 3 schools are after a kid, he'll automatically state that the in-state school leads. I dunno... just hit or miss w/ him IMO.

Blake has those garnet tinted glasses on steroids. Even if Clowney stated South Carolina was a distant second, he'd still believe in his heart that this kid will go to South Carolina.

According to Rivals Alabama is his leader at this time. I don't read a lot into these reports. It's July not February.

According to a source I know that is close to some of the Alabama assistants, Alabama wants Clowney very, very, very bad.

Top 2 of USC/UA with no leader

Which media was that? Just wondering...

Clowney drops by USC Saturday | GoGamecocks
Clowney has visited USC in the past, but this was the first chance for his mother to check out the school and meet with USC coaches. They met with recruiter Ellis Johnson and fellow assistants Brad Lawing, Lorenzo Ward and Jay Graham.

USC is one of the top schools on Clowney's list, along with Clemson, LSU, Alabama, Florida State and Miami. He's also visited Clemson, Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina.

Thanks! I guess some folks could consider tweets a media report nowadays

Tweets are where it's at, I hear all the good info there first usually nowadays. And it's easy to keep up with on your phone. I suggest you all look into it.

I follow Andrew Bone, Shane Youngblood, Chase Goodbread, Joe Schad, RollBamaRoll, and Tommydeas.

For example in the past hour.

Highly touted 2012 athlete Eddie Williams from Arnold in Panama City is camping at Alabama. Possible five-star. Crimson Tide leads early

Valley (Ala.) safety Erique Florence will be at Alabama's camp Monday-Wednesday.

FSU commitment Keelin Smith is camping at Alabama

I'm not knocking tweeter tats really, but I really only pay close attention when there is something quoted from the actual recruit. Tweeties have been shown to be wrong too often in the recruiting world.

So have actual printed news articles. When it comes to the media, personal opinion is the new fact.

:BigA: My take is Spurrier best days are over party because he is at SC instead of a Fl or Al. If Jadeveon plays for Spurrier he may be at best in the middle of the pack of the SEC! If he plays for Bama he may very well be playing for a national championship! When it is all said and done it boils down to what he really wants! Middle of the pack or championships!
