only that we may have a few more 1st rounders going in the next few years than this year dude. not trying to rustle an a long timers feathers, just making a point.
Haha, You didn't ruffle any feathers, and it doesn't matter how long someones been around, I wasn't trying to sound like a jerk, I legitimately didn't understand what you were trying to say, and I'm still not sure I do. Blackledge said our D didn't have any first round talent. That's an
absurd statement. I don't think he was simply talking about Sr's or upperclassmen, because he didn't qualify his statement that way. He said our Defense had no first round talent. I took that to mean nobody who gets any significant playing time, and there's no way he can justify that statement.
you lose 4 or 5 to the draft one year, you can't possibly do that the very next year on the same side of the ball.......or can u. maybe with nick we can. who knows.
Milliner is without a doubt a first rounder, possibly a top 5-10 guy. I think he has little less upside than DreK, but I think he's a bit better overall in this current 7 game stretch than I ever saw out of Dre in his 3 years. Dre was one of the few players on our D who didn't wrap up all the time and instead went for the big hit. Milliner's not like that, he's 100% by the book. The best way I could differentiate between the two is this: Dre plays cocky, Milliner plays smart. I wouldn't trade him for any other CB in college football. If it didn't sound so completely gay, I'd nickname him "Snuggie," because he's entirely draped over whoever he's covering.
Jesse Williams is a borderline 1st rounder right now who I believe could boost his stock with a great pro-day and/or combine.
CJ Mosley is a first rounder, he plays the pass & the run as good as any LB we've had in a long time. He's not as strong against the run as Hightower or McClain, but I do believe he's better in pass support than either one. He's not adequate at one and great at the other, he's good at both.
We've got a lot of younger guys who are tough to quantify. I think Depriest will be a stud when he's given the reigns of this defense. I think he'll be the defensive QB the way Rolo was a few years ago. Belue hasn't completely grasped the fundamentals of this defense yet, but he more than makes up for it with some of the quickest closing speed I've ever seen. I can't remember a CB I've ever seen who loses his man so often, yet somehow still ends up making the play because he covers the final 5 yards so quickly. Belue has loads of talent and when/if he finally grasps everything, IMHO, he'll be a first rounder. Guys like Pagan & Hubbard are highly regarded by scouts right now and who knows how they're careers might end up. And there's a ton more guys, this has barely scratched the surface.
Point being, there's lots of first round talent on this Defense. For Blackledge to say something like that makes me lose a little respect for him. Maybe he's not as knowledgeable as I once thought.
