I had my results back within barely over 2 hours (quoted as 45 minutes but there's a queue so that's pretty good and Mrs NT17 was also tested and got her results at the same time).
We have a Cepheid in-house to run them on, but we only have four working slots because we got it for MRSA testing (and later added C diff toxin testing).

Oh - they did away this week (starting tomorrow) with our Procalcitonin testing, which is going to be interesting to see the doctor's go bat snit crazy.

Well that's not going to go over well at all.

Our hospital here is critical access, so I'd be surprised if they could run more than 1 (or 2) tests at a time.

Well, I only have several thousands of dollars of now "not going to be used" materials on the shelf. I mean, we could at least taper it off and get some use from the test. But then again, I'm not the one who just got billions in bailout money, either.

Now that I've google him, sure. I haven't been in the fundamentalist/evangelical circles for going on three decades now. I remember James Dobson.
James Dobson was mild compared to Wild-man. Dobson wasn't trying to get "Three's Company" taken off the air because of the episode where Mr Furley was in bed with Mrs Roper because of a miscommunication.

Of course, Dobson is the guy who COULD NOT VOTE for McCain (before endorsing him the day he chose Palin) because he cheated on his wife when he was younger but THEN LOUDLY supported Donald Trump.

A lot of people are shocked to find this evangelical has very little in common with many public evangelicals.

I will confess I used to listen to Dobson back in 1990-1991 almost every single day. In all honesty, he didn't seem to be so much of a quack (to me anyway) at the time. I think, though, at some point (and this is merely a speculative opinion on my part) he somehow thought that the divine Theocracy that Pope Ronald Reagan was going to impose on the country was somehow left to Dobson to ensure it happened.

Here's an interesting one as told by Cal Thomas and Ed Dobson in "Blinded By Might" - in March of 1998, Dobson savaged House Majority Leader Tom DeLay for not pushing forward a conservative social agenda. DeLay was trying to reach a compromise with Democrats that would have banned all abortions after 20 weeks (with the obvious life-saving exception). Dobson blistered DeLay as a sellout on the issue - never mind that DeLay was accomplishing more in one session to prevent something Dobson claimed to abhor than Dobson ever did in his life. DeLay was stung because Dobson's videos had had a positive impact on his home life.

But a lot of zealots run right down the slope and into the ocean like the demons in the swine, too.

The others, well, I never got into any of them. I'd be hard pressed to tell you much about them. I'm more of a D.A. Carson kind of guy, and you don't see him jumping into politics.

Latest drive-by update from Florida ......

Still working well into the evening almost every day of the week. Racking up massive comp time; hope to be able to use it one day. Covid-only workload has exceeded three years of normal workload in four months. Current contracts run to 21 August. Got the word that the plan is to keep guard units in the field well into December. Of course, funding comes through in small doses - enough to only keep everyone supplied for a few weeks at a time. So the long hours will continue. It would be better to do contracts for months at a time, and then if Covid disappeared tomorrow we could just cancel what we don't need. But, that would require an appreciation of efficiency.

I'm waiting for the smart guys in the federal government to realize that if we didn't wasted so much money on stupid things, we would not have to do pandemic response on the cheap. For example, at this time every year we squander money on new laptops and new furniture - most of which is then just thrown into a warehouse (in spite of the big government apologists who claim this doesn't happen). This time is even better. The new cubicles that will soon be delivered will be removed in October, as our whole building is being remodeled. We'll get new furniture again after that. Got to waste that money before you lose it at the end of the fiscal year (30 September). SMH
