Hoover High School Making News

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

I'm a little worried about the growing attention Hoover is getting about allegations regarding its sports program. A former Federal Judge has been hired to lead an investigation.

Does not sound good. One of our recruits haS been mentioned. Something about possible grade changes.

(Sorry, I have not learned how to post a link, or my browser won't let me).

High Schools around the nation have these problems year round. Texas, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio, Florida, California, and yes Alabama.

Teachers sue every year because coaches and pro football administrators tell them to. Some teachers go threw hell for trying to do their jobs in the name of football.

I recently helped a teacher here in Key West with getting her job back. It wasn't football related but it was a conspiracy to have her fired. The entire group when exposed and ran like rats. The Blue Paper and its staff here in Key West laid down the smack down and they rats involved all fled. The went into hidding.

If you know a teacher who is trying to do the right thing and outside or inside pressure has them at odds, go to their Aid. Get the papers involved and expose all the people who have had any contact with that teacher and the threats made. When its made public, the rats run and start lying and hidding.

Superintendent pledges independent probe
The Hoover City Schools superintendent said Friday a retired federal judge will act with urgency in conducting an investigation into allegations of academic impropriety involving athletes at Hoover High.

In a morning press conference, Superintendent Andy Craig said he expects Sam C. Pointer Jr., the "point person" in the investigation, to have no restrictions on access. Craig said he hopes to meet with Pointer early next week to discuss more specifics.

"The seriousness of allegations themselves certainly warrant serious action in the form of looking into these allegations and gathering data and facts related to those," Craig said.

So if Chapman and Crump are good, and Kerry Murphy wasn't going to qualify anyways, what recruit of ours supposedly had their grade changed 1/2 a point? And what player needed the English bump anyways?

Kerry Murphy is in summer school right now for English.

I do NOT think it involves any colleges, but there is definitely something rotten going on in Hoover.

The AD resigned to take a lesser paying job at a small private school. He cited "philosophical differences" with administration. That raises an eyebrow or two.

No promises made in Hoover probe
A retired federal judge investigating possible academic impropriety involving athletes at Hoover High said Monday he will report his findings to the Hoover Board of Education, which will then decide whether to make the findings public.

Sam C. Pointer Jr., who met Monday with Superintendent Andy Craig to discuss the investigation, said he cannot promise anonymity to sources he interviews.

"I don't know whether the board will say, `Let's let it all hang out,' or if the board will say, `Let's at least protect names of people,'" Pointer said.

This is a non-story concerning Alabama, period. There is no basis to say Alabama had anything to with this. If Hoover changed the grades, then that's on them. I know Saban wouldn't put us in such jeopardy. A little dose of common sense would show that this is all a stretch to involve Alabama.

This comes out right after the Mobile stuff..... hmmmmmm, Barners are trying to deflect attention.

Interestingly, most of the Auburn people I've heard seem convinced that the grade changes for the mobile players was either related to a Bama plot or was done for the players when they were supposedly Bama leans. Personally, I find it amusing that any sort of misfortune that seems to come their way must somehow be related to UA. Honestly, in both cases I doubt that we or Auburn had any thing to do with any supposed grade changes.

I totally agree. I do know for a fact that these two scandals are related and part of a huge plot conceived and perpetrated by the new "Legion of Doom" alliance between Neil Calloway and Pat Sullivan. :biggrin2:

Please forgive my dirty mouth but there is no way in hell that Bama had anything to do with the problems that Hoover High School is currently being faced with.

We have been under NCAA probation for the past 5 years and I seriuosly doubt that we would do something that stupid while under probation and anybody with common sense about their selfs should know that.

Please note that our probation ended this past February.

The Mobile thing with the two AU recruits strikes me as the Lowder pay off system. Outside party from AU simply pays the teacher to fix the grade.

We may need to talk to Vito.

Remember "Risky Business?" Was it Quito the Killer Pimp or Vito the Killer Pimp? I figure some of you B'ham folks could tell us; since you are from the home of Bruno's (the Killer Grocery Store). :biggrin2:;):rolleye2::tongue::biggrin:

Schools chief says probe findings may be public
The superintendent of Hoover City Schools said Wednesday that findings from an investigation into academic impropriety regarding athletes at Hoover High School may be made public, but student privacy is a concern.

"I would think that whatever can be made public within the law will be made public," said Superintendent Andy Craig. "One of my biggest concerns would be protecting student privacy in this."

Not knowing what will be in the report, Craig said it's hard to speculate on what aspects of the findings will be released and how.

Exactly. He knows what rules he can push - like the talking to recruits rule. However, I think Saban has to know that he is under a microscope at Bama. If he did do anything he should be fired, not for cheating, but for being so dumb.

It certainly looks like this situation has nothing to do with Alabama recruiting violations. This is a Hoover HS situation. It may involve an Alabama signee and maybe losing the academic eligibilty of that signee.

Hoover school board approves hiring Pointer, three partners
The Hoover school board unanimously approved a letter of engagement with attorney Sam C. Pointer Jr. on Thursday after meeting in executive session to discuss the investigation into allegations of academic impropriety involving athletes at Hoover High School.

The letter of engagement names three partners assisting Pointer, the primary attorney, and says two of them have extensive experience in athletic investigations at both the NCAA and high school levels.

The school board went into executive session, at the request of board member Bill Veitch, on the basis that it would be discussing the "good name and character" of public employees in talking about possible grade changes.
