Hurricane Irma......

i was surprised to see alabama close today. i'm glad georgia did though, it went downhill quick about 1 this afternoon.

not up by me, nothing but rain all day and a few gusts but we've had far worse summer afternoon thunderstorms than anything I've had today

in fact I just ran to kroger and back a few minutes ago as I needed something quick and it was a non event though quite a nice change of pace to have no traffic around here at 6pm on a monday

True, I am just glad that I work from home and it isn't a big deal when they close schools. I feel bad for those that have to really struggle to find care for a day like today.

schools are closed here tomorrow too. we will have to tag team the office and home tomorrow. we kept power at the house and it looks like the office has power.

Stay safe, are you guys getting tornado warnings from this? Or are you on the "good" side of the storm?

we caught the brunt of it on the southside. it was nasty, solid from about 2pm and then by 5 or so we would get a few minutes of relative calm between the really bad squalls. i was nervous about all of the trees around, but we didn't lose any within our block. i think some went down at the bottom of the neighborhood and took out some power lines. some friends of ours in the next neighborhood over had a tree fall on their house and split the roof open.

At least we have Battleship

My parents near Heflin have gotten 3" of rain so far and expect a lot more tonight with gusts over 50mph.

Checking in from the north shore of Lake Murray, SC just south of Chapin. We've been without power for 9 hours. My rain gauge filled up by 7PM tonight (>5 inches). A few big trees down. Some docks destroyed. Some boats damaged. I thought with the westward jog we'd escape a lot of this. I guess if it didn't turn so far west, we'd be much worse off. Much more than just a rain event here. Charleston got it much worse.

we got lucky and never lost power. from checking the neighborhood page, we had 5-6 houses get trees on them with several other trees down in yards, roads, etc.

i'm glad it had weakened a little bit by the time it got to us or it could have been very ugly. we had gusts in the mid 60's

Got power back around 2am. On a side rant WTH is wrong with people not knowing how to drive. I thought it was common knowledge that a dead traffic signal is a 4 way stop. I even saw a police officer roll through one last night when I ran out to grab a few bags of ice. Been here 13 years and Atlanta drivers never cease to amaze me.

even better up here, no trees down I am aware of and just a decent amount of rain

my power flickered a few times yesterday afternoon but nothing more
