Introduce ourselves.

Anybody else located up here in the Northwest quadrant of the U.S. far far away from the center of the universe? Just curious if I'm all alone up here representin' Bama.

FWIW - I keep my huge RV magnets and Bama flag on my Crimson VW Vanagon year round.

I just posted 5 up from you that I live in Portland, OR. You should read some of the takes posted here, interesting stuff.

I have my magnets on my van as well. The Ptown people love me for it, get remarks all the time....

I'm Michael. People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks. Years later, a doctor will tell me that I have an I.Q. of 48 and am what some people call mentally retarded.

Seriously, born and raised in Cookeville, TN (pronounced Cook-vul) by most of these buffoon UT fans. Graduate of Tn Tech University. Stayed here cause I love it and have a great job. I would love to tell you how I became a Bama fan, but it's just a story I don't feel like typing.

Hankster and Athens-LA-Tide,

I have family in Gold Beach and was out there last summer. That's beautiful area of the country. I hope to get back out there in '07.

I'm Ray...originally from Mobile, Al. I'm a TSgt in the US Air Force/active duty. My friends all across the world call me "Bubba." I just moved from OSAN Air Base Korea to Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi. I'll see you crazy peeps at the games this year. I lurk most of the time because when this board rolled over it deleted my # of posts. I don't want to build it all up again just to be let down...j/k  I like my rank and don't want to lose it. Quicker to read than it is to respond! ROLL TIDE!!!

Welcome Mark!

My name is Josh, born in Ft. Benning, GA, raised in Jesup, Ga, but lived in Mobile for the last 16 years and loved the Tide from day 1.

By the way, I hate Notre Dame....
...with a passion.

My name is Brett...

I'm the one who built this sandbox for all of you to play in...:)

I'm gonna tell you a bit about myself so you understand how TF came into being....

Seriously, I am a Florence, AL native (well, that was the nearest town...I grew up in the Central Heights area 10mi NW of Florence). It always does my heart good to see Shoals-area folks join in!

My dad got his Ed.S. from Alabama in the early 70's and we lived in Rose Towers during the summers while he was down there. My parents say I always said I would be a "Bama Boy"... and that I did.

I graduated in '93 with a BS in Industrial Mgt / Production & Operations Mgt and worked in Valley Head for a few years before moving to CT for a year. After that, my wife - who is a '95 Bama grad, DZ sorority member & Panhellenic president while at UA and a member of 2 nat. champ. speech & debate teams ...can you tell I'm proud of her? ;).

Anyway my wife and I moved to NYC and lived just off Wall St. for 3 years. It was while in NYC and missing all things Alabama that I started a website that eventually became TideFans.com. I can remember the first day I had 500 page views. We sometimes get that many (and more) per minute these days! :)

We then moved to London for a couple years and did a LOT of traveling and I actually commuted from London to France each week for work. All the while, I kept TideFans running via dialups from less-than-high-tech places like Prague, Budapest, Krakow, etc. (Yes, we did have a couple of infamous meltdowns during that time :( ) I also watched Bama games in the middle of the night via my brother pointing his webcam at his big-screen TV and me watching via Video chat using Yahoo IM on a 2" screen!!!!!

Anyway, we moved to Atlanta in 2002 and are now entering our 5th year here.

I am currently working on my PhD at Georgia State University in IT-enabled innovation. I have a 5 month old whose first words I expect to be ROLL TIDE DADDY! :) She cried all day that RR backed out but was the best she's ever been on the day CNS came ! :D

Throughout the years, I have developed an amazing number of on and offline friendships with people here. A number of college friends are members and I appreciate their long-time support.

I look forward to the site continuing to grow in size AND in quality and I hope that you enjoy the hard work that everybody involved here contributes.

Anyway, that's the "short" version of how we got where we are today. :biggrin2:

ROLL TIDE & Thanks to all who have let us get to know you better!

Brett

Wow....Brett nice to meet you.
This is by far the best Bama web site for the true fans.

I'm an '81 graduate and have been going to games since I was a wee toddler at the astro- bluebonnet bowl in Houston in the early (early!) 60s if that tells you anything!

Welcome to this site. It truly is the best.

Brian-- I'm a Coffee Grad, too (1985) Go Jackets1 (may they rest in peace)... BTW, Who was Brett's Dad?

My dad is Larry Young.... He taught at Coffee up until about 85 or so then went to Bradshaw. Glad Brian thought he was cool :)

BTW, my dad was a principal at coffee in late 70's / early 80's. My brother and I had jersey's with Greg & Rodney Jarmon's #'s on them :D

I remember your Dad... didn't have as a teacher , except maybe as a substitute one day.... I was a freshman when Coach Bryant came to Coffee to recruit Rodney (and Collis Campbell) At least Rodney tried to make a go of it at 'Bama. Too bad it didn't work out for Rodney at 'Bama. Sad about his passing.

My name is Jason and I live in Montgomery. I lived in Wetumpka for a few years then moved back. This city truly is Auburn Jr. :mad2: I really love this site as well and eventhough I do not post much, I read it almost everyday. I guess the biggest game I ever went to was the 1992 SEC Championship game with my dad. It was also my first game. Nice to hear about everybody. :)
