Question: Is AU's honoring of buyout money tantamount to 'hush money'?/ Protest on the Plains

Re: Is Auburn's honoring of buyout money tantamount to 'hush money'?

Bingo.

I just don't think he had it in him to try to match CNS' intensity.

He had 5.2 million reasons not to.

I had heard on Monday that Auburn offered him 4 million to walk away. I imagine the conversation after that went somethig like this

TT- no, I want the full 6 mil.
JJ- let me call the banker
at which time JJ gets on his cell phone for a few minutes
JJ- OK, the banker is feeling generous, and his offer is 5.1 million. Thomas tuberville, Deal or No deal!

Re: Auburn voluntarily paying Tuberville $5.2 million because it's the right thing to

What' sas stupid is that they said they told him if he wanted to take a job somewhere else he could - without paying his buyout. They were just in a "giving" mood, I guess. :)

Well, they did give us 36 points and took no points for themselves.

Chop Block U. doing the right thing. Hey, I can believe that, after all they gave degrees in Sociology to folks who said they read the book.

This was Jay Jacobs at his former job:

I don't buy any of this bologna! Personally, I think ol' Wingnut holds a grudge and after the whole Jetgate thing he decided to undo Auburn in a big way. I think this whole "new offense" (even though he knew he didn't have the personnel to adapt to it), slack recruiting, and shooting themselves in the foot by firing their OC mid-season, was Tubbs' way of sticking it to the university, the BoT, Lowder, the whole shebang.

Now he gets to laugh himself all the way to the bank.

Something doesn't pass the smell test. He quits on his own. They pay him $5.2 million out of the goodness of their hearts.:eek2:
Where does that money come from? And its not like he needs any more. Probably made more last year after taxes than almost everybody here will in their entire career.

Ding ding ding. I think we have a winner.

5 mill will seal his lips...just like it did dye's...bowden's...hall's...who else is drawing barn money...

Re: Is Auburn's honoring of buyout money tantamount to 'hush money'?

Of course its "hush money". Just like it is for Borges, Dye, Bowden , Hall, etc. If any of these guys ever decided to write a true tell all account of Auburn's shenanigans, it would probably be a best seller.

Re: Auburn voluntarily paying Tuberville $5.2 million because it's the right thing to

I've never heard so much hot air as I heard from Jay Jacobs in his press conference yesterday. It got pretty comical when he said, "Tommy, if you want to take another job, there is no buyout..."

Also (from a reporter), "how much involvement did the BOT have in this process"?

JJ: "None whatsoever"

RIIIIIIIIIIGHT....

Spin Spin Spin...it's laughable....

Tubs wanted to keep his assistants on board and the rest of Booger Nation wanted them gone because they're not very good coaches...so they told Tubs to take a hike. Tubs said "gladly...hand over the dough and I'm out the door." Anything else you hear from them is pure hogwash...

Personally, I think he s telling the truth. The BOT was not involved. President for life Mr. Lowder would never feel the need to consult with his toadies.

Re: Auburn "voluntarily" paying Tuberville 5.2 million because it's the right thing t

I don't like the I.R.S. and I don't owe taxes...but I'm going to donate all my earnings this year to them...because...I just feel that it's the right thing to do.

Wait...did ya'll hear that Bull groan? Wonder what he's doing? Oh my God....Yuck.....and these shoes are brand new!

Re: Auburn "voluntarily" paying Tuberville 5.2 million because it's the right thing t

this makes no sense....why draw up a contract if you are just going to give hime the money anyway. especially the way the economy is going. he must have been fired and they are being nice about it.

Yella Fella says "it's the nice thing to do." Tubby shoulda let him continue to ride the sideline.
