Dozens of Auburn University students and alumni marched across campus to the president's mansion Tuesday to protest the school's treatment of former football coach Tommy Tuberville.

University officials say Tuberville resigned on his own last week after a decade that included an undefeated season and a Southeastern Conference title. But many demonstrators claimed that administrators and powerful boosters forced him out after a 5-7 record that included a 36-0 loss to Alabama.

Re: Protests on the Plains

Awwwww, how touching. They love their tubby! Too bad they have NO SAY.
Those students are MAD... they called Bobby "I'm in charge" Lowder a BAMA fan!
YEP.......SAD.....

Re: Protests on the Plains

70 people? That's all of the supporters they could find? lol

I don't know how many Alabama fans there are around the world but I'm sure most of them (me included) wanted Coach Tubberville to stay also. Maybe we should be like the Auburn administration and "do the 5.1 million dollar right thing" and help them protest. Although I kinda doubt Coach Tubberville will reconsider since he "RESIGNED (wink, wink)". I am appalled that the Auburn students would think that Jay Jacobs would lie to them. Don't they know he asked Coach Tubberville to stay 3 TIMES! 3 TIMES! 3 TIMES!

“You don’t throw a man’s career away for one lousy season,” said alumna Linda Ashurst, one of about 70 people who chanted and waved signs.

Re: Protests on the Plains

As a loyal Bama fan, I did my part. I made a sign and went to the protest march. If pictures make the paper I will be easy to spot--I am the one holding up the 36-0 sign

Re: Protests on the Plains

The other 20,000 were attending a "First Annual Tommy Tuberville Memorial Rodeo" hosted by The Polytechnic Institute.

"Memorial"?
They do know when he said "Alabama killed us" it was figurative, right?

I can see it now... Bobby Lowder - "Bring out your dead!"
Tommy Tuberville - "I ain't dead yet!"
Jacobs - "You will be soon, on the cart wit' ya!"

Sad news on the plains, The Auburn student that lead the protest in the Tuberville firing is in intensive care and is in "unsatisfactory condition". He was involved in a fight trying to enter the Sigma Phi Epsilon house for a party.Seems like the frat boys did not like the kid voicing his opinion.:conf2:

I have always thought and continue to believe that the barn is spending that buyout (buyoff) money to hush these past coaches...cause we all know they have the 'Very Right Reverend' handing out money to get those south Florida and other players to come to the barn...some day it will all come to light...

The popular theory on why Tubberville was paid his buyout is a certain Auburn fella contacted another Head Coach to gauge his interest in coming to Auburn. The problem was Tubberville had it in his contract that no one could speak to another party without the other party knowing about it, that came after jetgate. Well the other Head Coach and Tubberville have the same agent and word got back to Tubberville that Auburn was shopping around. Tubberville walked into the meeting holding four aces against Auburn's unsuited 4-9. Auburn violated the contract plain and simple, Tubberville got paid.

That's the hot rumor I keep hearing.

As a latent Ole Miss fan, I've never cared much for Tommy, but I do so enjoy seeing him get a taste of the same dishonesty and backstabbing that he has been known for. But he still wins in the end, taking his 5 million dollars into early retirement. The man will never have to work again.

And the fact that he put the screws to the Barn makes it much more enjoyable.
