Question: Is AU's honoring of buyout money tantamount to 'hush money'?/ Protest on the Plains

Re: Auburn "voluntarily" paying Tuberville 5.2 million because it's the right thing t

I don't know which would be worse: whether AU is stupid enough to do this in the first place or stupid enough to think anyone would believe it.

DRAMA on the Plains

[ame="http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3755344"]Report: Tommy Tuberville's mom says Auburn fired her son - ESPN[/ame]

Student-wide protest on campus tomorrow to have Jay Jacobs fired. It's getting mighty interesting in those parts....

Re: DRAMA on the Plains

I thought Tuberville "resigned" , I don't know where the lovefest is coming from, so many AU fans running around claiming he was one of THE BEST coaches in the country and a true AU man blah blah blah, I would think most great coaches could do a little more than win their conference more than once in 13+ years..

Re: DRAMA on the Plains

As if we needed confirmation that they would just pay him $5.1 mil out of the kindness of their hearts.

:PDTC_035:

It was either them paying him to avoid being sued under the contract's buyout clause b/c he was indeed either actually or effectively fired or them paying him some serious hush money, which is more doubtful.

Re: DRAMA on the Plains

His mother does not want him getting stressed out. 5.1 million and not coaching. Heck how much stress could the man have. Good heavens she is as nutty a pecan tree.

Hey Mom the stress comes with the job. Your little Tommy isn't stressed anymore sister.

Save the Drama for YO MAMA.

Re: DRAMA on the Plains

I thought about saying maybe they should go to class instead. But then I forgot, that's not required for graduation at Auburn.

Re: DRAMA on the Plains

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't these the same fans/students/Wire Road Trailer Trash who were protesting his firing all season long?

They're so indecisive and their behavior is so erratic! I guess it's the fumes of whatever they put into the cow manure wafting throughout the ugliest little trailer park on the plains.

Re: DRAMA on the Plains

We knew that Coach Saban would end up dominating the barn eventually on the football field. Who could have known that it would only take 2 years for him to bring the entire place to the brink of anarchy?

Inside the Tuberville home
Olive Tuberville, the coach’s mother, was disappointed, but strong as a rock.

Three hours earlier, her son resigned from the job he held so dear in the wake of a surprising 5-7 season.

“He didn’t resign,” Olive Tuberville said. “He was fired.”

She said she didn’t learn the news from media reports. Instead, she heard it straight from the man who lost his job.

“He called and told me,” she said. “He made it through (the phone call to her) pretty good. He was dreading telling the players.”

Tuberville did that at a scheduled 6 p.m. player meeting.

You just knew this wasn't going to end well, if at all.

Allow me to be petty for a moment - how much did I enjoy this typo from that article?

"They say Tuberville was wrongly forced out after 10 years that included an defeated season and a conference championship."

Auburn students protest treatment of Tuberville
Dozens of Auburn University students and alumni marched across campus to the president's mansion Tuesday to protest the school's treatment of former football coach Tommy Tuberville.

University officials say Tuberville resigned on his own last week after a decade that included an undefeated season and a Southeastern Conference title. But many demonstrators claimed that administrators and powerful boosters forced him out after a 5-7 record that included a 36-0 loss to Alabama.

"You don't throw a man's career away for one lousy season," said alumnus Linda Ashurst, one of about 70 people who chanted and waved signs.
