Maurice Harris is a talented receiver and They are going after next year regardless of Allen. I am just saying that Maynard might have a chance to be a back up. Korn is going to be gone, and Parker might be. If that happens, no one is going to beat out Boyd. Their is potential for Boyd to take the job in spring. He is that good. If I were Keenan and read any of these blogs bashing him and his brother, I would decommit. He can go to any school and he will still end up playing on Sunday. Maynard might get a chance to play at Clemson? Who knows?

I didn't know if they did or not, could see anything to comfirm it. A Bama fan on here said he thought they canceled. I dont really think Maynard plays a down unless they have injuries. I would like to have had someone with his experience Vs a true freshman.

I don't think anyone is bashing Keenan. I believe it's pretty obvious where HE wants to go. I think more people are upset that he has been all Bama for this long and ALLEGEDLY someone in his family is trying to use Keenan's gift to get his brother a better deal. Also I believe it sets a bad precedence for any school to take a player they wouldn't have originally to get a player the really want.

Now I am still in the boat that feels, Keenan is committed to Alabama and that's all we know for sure. Our staff knows better than anyone what is going on. If they felt Keenan was gonna flip on NSD why would they let him stay committed? While I do hope Keenan sticks to his word, Bama is bigger than any one player. Let Clemson set that precedence if they want. Bama will keep being champions in everything we do. RTR.

I completely agree that our staff knows, especially after their in home visit Thursday. If they thought that KA was going to decoomit they would have known then and told him to go ahead. I know it makes Clemson fans feel better about themselves to think they might steal one from us, but again we will be fine. Oops did I just bash KA, sorry.:wink:

I think ABTider is right--no one here is bashing KA, and as far as I'm concerned, if he wants to go to Clemson for family reasons, I say let him go and wish him well. But the cold, harsh reality is that he has a much better chance of winning championships in Tuscaloosa than he does in death valley--you know that and we know that. Heck, I'd even go so far as to say it's even money that your coach won't even be there when he's a senior.

No one is foolish on here and can understand Maynard's desires. He wants to play fine, does that mean it will happen probably not, but if he truly is trying to play then yes Clemson would be his best option for sure, atleast compared to the other schools he is looking at.

I was also responding to that UA poster about their trip. Again I just read it from a Cal board.

Never has so much been concluded from so little information. The premise is that KA is visiting Clemson with his brother, or half brother, or whatever. And let me remind you, that is all we KNOW!!! Everything else on that has been posted is sheer conjecture. The ultimate non sequitur.

We need to be careful. What if KA reads this board? What if he sees the number of posts claiming that all will be well without him? Granted, most people are saying that in spite of the visits, we would still like to have him, but in the same breath claim how well things will be without him. It would not take an overly sensitive person to begin to resent some of those comments.

The worst source of information has been other message boards. Are you kidding me? What do you expect Clemson people to say? Of course they want him and are letting him know that. Every school wants him.

Let's not be fickle about this. We not only want KA, we NEED KA. Don't kid yourself.

Intil I learn something more reliable than what I have seen in this thread, I will remain confident that KA is Tider. He is a truly outstanding prospect.

I don't think anyone here is making conclusions--just offering up opinions conditional and qualified on some of this information being true.

Clemson has 3 good QB's today. In August it might be just one. I can see why they might offer Maynard. The offers were already there for Allen and Harris. He might end up at Bama and this was just a fun week running over hypotheticals. One thing I do know is Dabo is a good recruiter and the players love him. It will not surprize me one bit if he ends up coaching Bama in the future. I really think he is going to be a great coach, time will tell. Clemson does love Alabama coaches, Howard, Ford and Swinney.

Maybe I missed something from the turnip truck but what is all this talk of Maynard being the backup if he goes to Clemson, and possibly getting to play? Isn't Buffalo a D-1 school? Did he not play there last year? If so he will still have to sit out a year. Is there something I'm missing?

Keenan has always had Clemson and Alabama 1-2, they flip flopped 2-1 and we won't really know for 2 more days. As for the earlier bashing statement that I made. Read about 20 pages on here and make your own conclusions. A negative statement about a family member, brother, parents or keenan probably is taken by him as personal. I would take it that way, as would most of the people on here. I was just trying to make that point. No one on here know's what his true intentions are or what he is going to do. There has been a whole lot of bashing of his family and him. I only tried to point out why he might be go to another school.

Nope you are correct he will have to sit next year. He was in the 2008 class and hasn't used his redshirt yet so he still has 3 to play 2.

I see where you're coming from, at the same time the Allen family has put themselves directly in the crosshairs of criticism with their actions. Keenan Allen was all set to commit to Alabama in September of last year, and now he's out apparently shopping his services like a mercenary? Such is the fluid situation of recruiting, I suppose.

Count me in the camp of not wanting to set the precedent of the inmates running the asylum.

I got on here after reading this site for a few days. I am not trying to justify anything. I was try to defend the kid and his possible reasons for switching. He has been getting bashed on here in post after post. It is probably as simple as he loves his brother and wants to go to school with him. How and the heck can you find fault with wanting to be with your own family. Next year they will probably have a cousin also on the team. It is not conspiracy, not blackmail, its just parents involved with their kids!! I have heard they are a close family and that is a good thing in this day and time. I wish ya'll would stop bashing him. If he decommitts it is only to be with his brother, how can you fault him for that.

If he really wanted to play with his brother than answer the question of why he didn't committ to Buffalo? If it was as big a deal as you are making it out to be than why wouldn't he go to Buffalo? The facts are that Clemson did not recruit his brother until it was mentioned that KA could be a package deal so don't be so naive. KA is helping his brother get to a better college and if he happens to go there as well than so be it but don't act like Clemson is a shining beacon of light attempting to reunite two family members

Have to agree on that one. To offer a package deal under pressure by a recruit, no matter how highly sought-after, kind of smacks of the Shula years.

Neither high school kids nor their parents tell Nick Saban who to offer and who not to.

It is apparent the only reason you are here is to stir the pot. No one is bashing Keenan. I think if anything you are trying to bait us into negative comments. If he chooses the Tide then great he will win championships with us. If he goes with someone else then we will say good luck to him. RTR

First off nobody is bashing Keenan Allen personally. There are a lot of Tide fans that are upset with the perceived situation with Zach Maynard suddenly being an apparent factor in where Allen ends up.

The only thing that Allen or his family have said publically is when his mother said that Allen was going to visit Clemson with an open mind. Allen has not decommitted from Bama, at least publically since the Clemson visit. I am waiting to see what is said by either Allen and/or his family, if anything after the California visit. Personally it would not surprise me if Maynard ending up signing with California and Allen signed as expected with Bama.

Right now the situation is a big unknown besides the fact that Allen is still committed to Bama as far as the public record goes. Everybody just needs to relax and let the process take its course.

One thing we don't need is a Clemson fan telling us what is what in their opinion from the Clemson perspective about Allen and how we should act on Tide Fans. By the way, welcome to Tide Fans.

Based on what? Seems like a lot of our conclusions are faced on rather large assumptions, and unflattering ones at that.

what he said. noone disslikes allen. we just dislike other programs offering package deals because they cant swing the recruit without them.
