Is there a scenario where we still back into the playoffs?

Joel Klatt believes we should be in
It will be tight, but after the initial response to the game people are going to go wait we just watched SMU lose to the #17 team and they're now 0-2 against the top 25.

I think the committee will go into the room prepared to leave out SMU given the Miami ranking, and they'll have to hear out the talking points people are spouting in favor of SMU. I don't know which way it will go, but it's not over. I'm not sure even the people who will decided it have their minds made up yet.

CBS says we are in
I tend to agree. If teams aren't punished for losses (no matter when they occur) then the sport has a serious problem. For those that say "Why play in a conference championship if a loss drops you out?" the answer is to try and win the game for a trophy and a bye. If that's not enough of an incentive then they need to get rid of conference championships and award the top 4 ranked teams at the end of the regular season the byes.

I don't understand why people say putting us in would devalue the championship game. It doesn't. Texas and Penn St both lost in their championship games, but they aren't being punished for losing in theirs. Playing in the championship game does matter, but it's not the only thing that matters. The regular season has to matter too, otherwise we should just cancel all meaningful OOC games and schedule all G5 /FCS teams.

Blind resume time

11-2, 0-2, vs. Top 25 teams. Best win 8-4 team, Lost CCG by 3

11-2, 0-2 vs. Top 25 teams, best win 9-3 team, Lost CCG by 3

10-2, 1-1 vs Top 25 teams, one top 15 win, didn't play CCG

11-1, 0-1 vs Top 25, Best win 7-5 team, didn't play CCG

Are these playoff teams?

Lots of money must be coming in for Bama

Odds are now -340 SMU and +250 Bama

It was like -680 SMU right after the game.
The betting markets are like the stock market. When something dramatic happens the market takes an initial plunge but then when people have time to reflect it recovers. The Bama "buyers" are coming in now.
