sorry if its so long above. and im really sorry that some people arent internet savy and dont understand ur = your, b = be, c = see, em = them. didnt realize i was back in english class. surprised some people even know how to log on. but anyway. well lets see. brown (prolly both of them), mcknight, bailey, creer, mcneil, jones, devine, are out. corley, chapman, and gibson arent as near a lock as some think. especially gibson with auburn giving a huge push. is it the facilities? no alabama has the best ive seen in the SEC. id say we're tied with tennessee's. cant lie as much as i hate them. they're impressive.... the field? nope the stadium is one the largest and most beautiful ive ever seen....the tradition? the academics? sure isnt the coaches...we have the dream team...cant get them to visit? all but 1 did....so you tell me when im supposed to wonder WTH is going on down in ttown? dont tell me its for lack of time. every school is grabbing commits in a weekend. including us with bailey. creer with TN. only takes a visit. today we just got 1 (farmer) that didnt even have us on the list. so what part of this isnt embarrasing and giving the barners something else to spit in our face about? when do you think it becomes a problem and we need to start asking why the doors at bama are revolving?

Has any one of these "prized recruits" that are turning us down even played a friggin' down of college football? Has anyone of the recruits that do want to come play here played a friggin' down of college football? The answer to both is "NO".

Recruiting classes aren't judged/proven on NSD. They are proven over time. Just look at the thread on Tyrone Prothro and take a look at "how bad" a THREE STAR recruit can be. And while you're at it say the words Demeco Ryans a few times as well. The message you're trying to convey about our recruiting is just a big pile of .....

you cant follow. im not saying 1 out of 7. i said we didnt land anyone out of those seven above. 4 or 5 out of 7 isnt unreasonable to ask for. especially since this is Alabama football we're talking about.

That's what you get for turning down the head coaching job. I guess you'll just have to watch as the replacement fumbles through his job.

I have no words. The coaching staff has worked their butts off in ONE MONTH just to get kids to think about coming to Alabama and this is what you have to say about it? What was our recruiting ranking a month ago? Do you know? What is it now? We are building a team of individuals that share a common goal. Whether they be 1 star or 5 star, if they want to be a part of what is being built, then they will come. We will bring hell to anyone we play next year. And I guarantee you, when we bring in a top 5 recruiting class next year, you won't post anything remotely close to what ever that was I just read. You ask why the doors at Alabama are revolving? They were made for fans just like you. Keep walking.

Maybe getting those 4 and 5 star recruits are not all that important but we were sure chomping at the bit about them a few days ago when we thought it possible we would get them.
Bama fans stay confused......they only want recruits that really WANT to play for Bama........'til a lifelong FSU or LSU fan shows interest......"we've got to have him".....he commits to his lifelong favorite......."we only want recruits that really WANT to wear the crimson jersey"!:biggrin2:

We always have Prothro to fall back on when we have to settle for the lower rated recruits.:rolleye2:

Don't get me wrong......I am thrilled with the Bama coaching staff, feel they will win right off the bat and that Bama is BACK. It is just the fickleness of some fans that intrigue me. :BigA: ROLL TIDE ROLL

*Another someone that absolutely doesn't understand the star system as it relates to evaluations by the actual coaches. But carry on....

Go visit other fanbases and come back and let us know if we're in the minority on this issue. Welcome to college football and their fanbases. Stay a while you'll enjoy it.....

I agree with rolltideroll23, Saban should be fired for the horrible job he has done so far!!!!!!!! You need to bring back Shula:biggrin2:

yeah he died 1 month before i was born. so i know nothing about him. well except my grandfather played with him as a senior when bear was a sophmore. oh and 3 uncles and 2 cousins and my father that played for him. and his long time friendship with my grandfather. and the jersey he gave my mother that i was brought home from the hospital in. other than that i know nothing about bear bryant. just was raised by a whole family of "sons of bear" and brought up in bama tradition.

I don't think many fans realize that these "experts" putting these "stars" on these kids aren't football coaches. The no brainer players like Joe McKnight are easy to rate. A blind, deaf, mute monkey could rate him properly. But the ones that aren't the neon light recruits but are still very good players often get over looked or unjustly ranked low. I'll trust a coach's opinion or evaluation over an "expert" that hasn't even played nor coached a down any day.

From what I remember of Coach Saban's time as LSU, it seemed like he was able to "coach up" many of the 3* players to be solid starters. Also, when all is said and done, a school is lucky to have even half of one particular recruiting class contribute significantly to the program. I guess the star system helps a fan base to keep score as to which way a program is moving more than anything else.

P.S. I also remember a good number of 5* players transferring because of lack of playing time (barrington edwards, amp lee etc).

Development is more important than the star ranking. MANY three star recruits develop into dang good players once they get into college. I firmly believe that if Mike Shula and his unprepared staff can put a competitive team on the field (though not good enough to win) with his 15th and 16th ranked recruiting classes then I have no doubt in my mind that Saban and his staff can do ten times better.

The local highschool teams here in Shreveport spent more time in the weight rooms than Bama did under Shula, and that's not a joke.

why not? are you saying there's a problem with selling alabama football to recruits and we CANT possibly land 5 of 7?

I realize I'm new here but...

On this date, yes, of course there's a problem. We just changed coaches, CNS has not been recruiting for 2 years, and all the other coaches have been fostering relationships with these kids for months if not years. Every star recruit that has been on the entire countries radar is an ultra long shot. At least CNS took aim and went after them. He has come in and done an great job with the resources and limited time at hand.

RTR23, like you, I want the best athletes recruited and the best coaching for Alabama. But you want your instant grits yesterday, and it just doesn't work that way.

It's easy to get too caught up in this Scouts, and Rivals ratings when its shown EVERY year that great teams are made from much, much more than *****s.
All you have to do is look at BSU, WVU, Rutgers, and on the other side of the coin FSU this year, to see that. Let's let him and the staff coach a few games and then form an opinion.

Alabama already has a built in advantage over 99% of the other schools out there......This is the "Crimson Tide". One of the most storied traditions in the game. As much as detractors would like to tell everyone different, the tradition still plays a huge part in how we will get talent to come here when CNS gets a year or two under his belt.

And BTW, I've been using the internet since before the WWW, so this ain't my first rodeo. Your lazy typing, although only internet shorthand by your reckoning, won't go over big on most sites like this.

i know what alabama is and means more than you know. some are acting like i dont know whats going on. right now im currently assisting a university, trying to build kids up that want to go on to div 1A ball. i had my playing time. i was going to play for alabama but unfortunately things came out beyond my control and i was forced to consider other options. it was the single worst day of my life when literally a dream i had been waiting on my entire life was shattered and spit on right in front of me. now it turned out to be for the best because i went on with my career and made my family proud and decided to follow through with becoming a coach one day. but even though things went wrong im still promoting and screaming about the power and tradition of alabama football. encouraging them to take it to the next level. i bleed crimson and have all my life.

oh and by the way, dont be hypocritical. if you're going to hold me to a standard of "lazy typing" then i dont want to see anymore IMO, or IMHO, FWIW, Div-1A. ill type however i choose and if people cant read it, then dont.

I agree. I`m not much for star gazing. Some kids do stand out like McKnight, mainly with their speed. It`s hard to grade a kids physical ability when he`s 195 lbs. and running over a 160 lb. high school LB that will be the head whopper flopper at the BK when he graduates.

LOL!! "Whopper Flopper"?? :biggrin2:

I agree about the star system. All that matters is what the coach thinks about a prospect.
