Re: Jordan Jefferson in barfight last night

LSU's season is most likely toast. If those four are kicked off the team, LSU will be lucky to make it to a bowl this year.
Woah... "lucky to make it to a bowl" is over exaggerating. Metz isn't too bad at QB (he beat Murray before he was arrested IIRC). Les has PLENTY of talent to use. Plus, that defense is always going to be stout.

Re: Jordan Jefferson in barfight last night

Agreed. I think it is a bit premature to be throwing in the towel for them. Jefferson has a viable replacement and both sides of the LSU lines are stacked with talent just waiting to play. I think they'll be fine.

Ya'll might be right. I just re-read Jess's article on LSU. Zach Mettenberger may be a better QB than Jefferson. We will have to wait to see I suppose.

All four players questioned left the police department therefore none were arrested.

Reports from Randy Rosetta LSU beat writer report credible information that although Jefferson was present he was not involved in the altercation.

"WBRZ in Baton Rouge released the name and a photo of the Marine that was injured in the fight. Below is little bit of an article that WBRZ posted on their website. Andrew Lowery is the Marine victim. Can anyone say Choirboy? He was booked for theft in Florida in 2008. Multiple people say that he was expelled from Catholic High in BR his senior year for fighting.

I've linked a mug shot taken in Florida of the Choirboy Marine "victim".

Anyone that thinks these "victims" were just innocent boys trying to get their truck out of the parking lot and got mobbed by 4 LSU players are smoking crack.

This whole story stinks.

BATON ROUGE- News 2 obtained a photo of one of the victims in Friday's bar fight where four LSU football players are implicated in the beating.

Multiple sources have identified the man in the picture as Andrew Lowery. Michael Bienvenu confirmed to News 2, he is representing the victim in the picture." Tammany Tom

Re: Jordan Jefferson in barfight last night

I don't really think this has as much of a negative impact on LSU as many people seem to imagine. For all we know they could be effectively "losing" one of the least effective quarterbacks in the country, a couple of reserves, and a rotational starter. If Jefferson goes out, I'm still banking on Mett playing well and LSU beating Oregon.

I think the biggest issue here is the distraction more than anything else.

Re: Jordan Jefferson in barfight last night

The four players questioned were

Jordan Jefferson - QB Sr
Josh Johns - LB So low on depth chart 3 Star
Chris Davenport - OT 3rd on DC at Left Tackle RS Sophomore Recruited as 5 Star DT
Jarvis Landry - WR True frosh 5 Star receiver

If for some odd reason JJ does not start this game, J Lee will get the start over Mett.

Still a sticky situation but the media started reorting this with only one side of the story. Guess we'll have to wait and see what washes out.

Care to elaborate on this one? Either Mett is shaping up as a big bust or Jefferson and Lee have both tremendously improved.

Re: Jordan Jefferson in barfight last night

What an unfortunate post.

I've never heard the term "Chiorboy Marine victim" before.

Posting a mugshot from trouble a Marine got into when he was 18 doesn't seem like an appropriate thing to do.

I wonder how many old mugshots could be found of people on LSU's team. Maybe none, but I'd bet there are a few out there.

Isn't that all they had? The players didn't speak until now.

I wonder how long it will take Barners to ask "Where did those players get the suits they wore to the police station?"

Isn't a large issue also that there were reports of over 20+ players breaking curfew to even be there? Will Les not suspend ANY of them? I'm thinking he will.

Re: Jordan Jefferson in barfight last night

The problem in terms of the team...is that these players broke curfew. That right there should warrant a fitting punishment. Now tack on that they were involved in some kind of altercation as a result of the broken curfew...and you have more severe punishment.

I wouldn't be surprised if Les benched the 4 involved for the first game based only on the known facts...breaking curfew and the altercation.

I agree. Not my words that's why I credited the poster on that one. As an active duty member of the military with 20 years in November, I share your issue with his description of the Marine. I did not think it just to take only some of his comment therefore posted the entire statement.

Re: Jordan Jefferson in barfight last night

It seems to me that the LSU spin crew is out in full force now. Whether that is because there really isn't anything to the situation or it is pre-emptive damage control remains to be seen...

Yes. For some reason the media has ran with Mett as the backup to Jefferson. It's probably because of the hype surrounding him last year. Les has a commitment to his senior players therefore J Lee will get the start.

Also, J Lee gets a bas rep for his QB play as a RS Freshman. People remember the pick sixes. What isn't mentioned is the contributions that he has made over the last two years coming off the bench. Examples from last year are the wins over TN, UF, and Bama. J Lee brought the team back only for Les to turn the reigns over to JJ once again. Do you remember the long 3rd down completion to Rueben Randle that J Lee threw in the Bama game or the game winning pass to Tolliver in the end zone for the win at FL? All Jarret Lee.

Les has hung his hat on JJ to many people's surprise. JJ can run and this is the seperation that I see. Who knows what goes on day in and day out in practice. What I do know is that Zach Mattenberger has ran with the 3's the entire Spring and Summer camps. Lee will get the start if Jefferson does not play.

Re: Jordan Jefferson in barfight last night

It's established as fact that LSU has curfew. I've read a statement from someone in LSU's football program that says it's a tradition to break curfew on that particular night, after summer practice. Les had to know that, but he tolerated them breaking curfew because it was "tradition."

So my question to our LSU visitors, how does an LSU player tell the difference between team rules that are enforced and those that are not?

I understand your stance on the issue. If it was Bama I would probably be making statements about the Bama "spin" crew as well. We'll all know the facts of the case sooner or later. Of course any opposing team will think that things were swept under the rugged if Jefferson is cleared (guilty or not). That's the nature of the beast in the SEC. I listen to the Finebaum show every day and can tell you that Alabama fans think Bama is spotless, Auburn think Cam is as pure as the driven snow, etc.......... Heck!, UT fans think Janzen Jackson was innocent of that armed robbery even though the video clearly shows him going into that car!

So in the end we have to rely on the police, judges, coaches, etc. to make the best decisions for society and their respective teams. If JJ was involved he can kick rocks for all I care. Maybe we can have another run with J Lee like we had with Matt Flynn when J Russell declared for the NFL.
