There's a term in my career field called "best practices", which we frequently use in our office throughout the year. Something doesn't have to fall into the category of "right" or "wrong" to end up having bad consequences. Is it "wrong" for me to only require one signature on purchases regardless of dollar amount? Nope, but is it "best practice"? Nope. I open myself up to the risk of someone stealing me blind.
Is working on a song "wrong" for Milroe to do? Nope. But considering the fish bowl he lives in and the potential public fallout and scrutiny he'll get from it if his season doesn't go well, is it "best practice"? I would say no, it's not. We all have control of the decisions we make, but not the consequences that come from them. I can easily see this going sideways on him.
