Game Thread: OFFICIAL POST-GAME THREAD - Bama vs. Barn...

  • A very merry Christmas to you and your family from all of us at TideFans! Be safe and be blessed!
Worst offensive game plan I've seen from BAMA in eons. And I can't count how many unforced errors. Any why does every pass have to be a 30 plus yard pass. The cows lived off of short passes, why can't we do that? We obviously can't block long enough to run a 30 yard pass, so why not do some short, quick passes to get the ball to the play makers. Daboll looked like he never heard of offense, taking what the defense give etc. We need help.
Completely agree. My next snap as my offensive coordinator will be my first, but I knew we needed to attack this game just like the BCS Title game against LSU, using AU's speed up front against them with short play-action behind the pressure. We did almost none of that after the first couple scripted series. The fourth quarter was deplorable.

If Saban was smart he’d be on the phone right now hiring CJM to be OC. Daboll has not been a fit all year. We have great players who were not used correctly. I have defended Jalen all year. However, if you take off the Crimson glasses you will realize he has regressed as the season went on.
It was easy to see this coming after Alabama played Miss. State and Auburn played Georgia. Auburn was peaking at the right time, Alabama was just too beat up and out of sorts at the time they most needed to have things together.

Hurts obviously could have made some plays, but just about everyone could have, but I have been questioning his usage throughout the year. I am sure Daboll is doing a very good job in some respects, but I'm not sure he forced Hurts to develop as a passer as much as he could have, and I'm not sure he was always ready to take what the defense gives him. I feel like that was bound to catch up to Alabama.

But, no one can lay this all on Hurts or Daboll either. There were other unforced errors that really hurt the team, badly on offense. Then on defense there was predictable breakdowns, but some really bad ones. Beat up, that's kind of to be expected but I can't blame the offense for that. Then of course special teams got in on the action. This was just a sloppy game, but anyone who thinks Tua was going to do great with Auburn defenders in his face all day are delusional.

I had a sinking feeling early on, basically when Alabama decided not to go for it on fourth down. It felt like Alabama didn't yet realize the fight they were in for, and wanted to play it safe. Alabama needed every break and big play they could get, and this was a rare instance of everything conspiring against them (even the refs).

They get up for it and their coaches encourage it. Saban does not want his players to get up for any game. For all of his strengths, Saban does not get this one right.

But that's not why you lost this game or any of the others. You lost this game because they played great football, and Alabama played very poor football.

Agree 100%. We always play tight against the barn but we usually shake it off after a quarter and play good ball.

But not tonight. This was a terrible performance in Every phase of the game - a Team loss.

Maybe it’s different if we aren’t without 5+ starters, maybe not.

But we LOST tonight far more than aub “won”.

The inability to tackle, to get off field by making 3rd down stops and inability to convert on 3rd down on O continues to baffle. Both of our lines got whipped.

On an interesting note Bama hoops just lost to Minnesota by 5 after being down by 15. Interesting is that we played w only 3 players after entire bench got tossed for coming onto floor after a tussle and one player fouled out and another got hurt w 10+ minutes to play. Colin Sexton took over and we had a chance to tie with under a minute to go... only playing with THREE players.

He can. Our staff never really gave him a chance. Every time we went fast and ran RPO plays he was successful. We never stuck with it though. You have to run the Air Raid RPO consistently to get better at it.

You certainly can't make up some hodgepodge amalgam of RPO/Pro Style PA NFL offense. But that's what we did.

We need to send our entire offensive staff to Norman, OK during the offseason. It’s the kind of O that fans enjoy watching, players like playing in, and it IS effective—with the right QB.

Some you guys are pathetic. Kids went out and executed "what was given to them". Evidently, we don't have any "quick slants" in the gameplan until we are behind in the 4th quater. Game rests squarley on the OC. Roll Tide! If we make it, Roll Tide! If we don't, Roll Tide!

This. I don't post as often as others, but I read a lot here and you would think that the end of the world is coming... 18-22 year old's playing a game they and we love. The inevitable came and we lost, but I have faith we will win lots more.

Carry on...

I didn’t know I had so many Auburn fans as friends on FB. They sure are posting tonight. Lol at least they are not being mean.

Good game, guys. I'm going to keep a low profile tonight. Hope things break the right way and we meet in the playoff. Take care.

I do not see this happening. The college football world is tired of BAMA. This is an opportunity for someone else.

No excuses. No reasons. We lost. Time to regroup. One loss is not the end I don't care if it is our hated rival. Now we have to worry about winning the bowl game because historically we don't after these types of losses. I'm sucking it up. Roll Tide!!

I'm more disappointed in how the game turned out than mad, but Auburn played their game, and they won out. I would place the blame on the offensive coaches, like some have mentioned. I would also place some blame on CNS, as he is involved in decision-making along with the offensive coaches. I remember people wanting to fire CLK after the Ohio State playoff loss, and yet Alabama were able to turn it around to win it all the next year. So, any decision made simply because we lost to Auburn tonight does not need to be made. I do believe that CNS needs to evaluate how he handles some of these games where the team comes out incredibly tight. We'll see, but Roll Tide to everyone out there tonight.
