I feel asleep but woke up waaaaay before my alarm went off. This is my first championship loss. Thankfully, I'll recover. [emoji57]My wife and I sat up most of the night dealing with the loss. She is finally asleep.
Yeah, you averaged 6.5 YPC. Every Alabama player who ran the ball had success. You knew what was going to happen if your defense got too tired, but kept going back to the pass knowing that Jalen and the receivers (drops) were having a hard time. Very frustrating to watch and to accept after the fact.By my count - and granted, I'm going on 3 hrs sleep - our RBs carried the ball 22 times. 12 of the 22 went for 4+ yds. Three went for 10+. Only three went for negative yards.
IMO, our third down conversion % is a key reason we lost. Just couldn't keep the D fresh for the end of the game.
Can't understand why our RBs weren't more a part of the game plan when they were so effective against the Tiger D.
Regardless, exciting game. Great season. Ready to see how '17 unfolds.

We aren't exclusively blaming the refs but you can't beat 1) Watson, 2) a stagnant offense AND 3) officials who allow receivers to literally mug our DBs.Sad you have to blame the refs for a loss.
Could you blame OJ for catching that not knowing if a defender was behind him for the interception. Even with that if Harris had thrown even a tiny block OJ is still running.I remember thinking when Jalen scored that there is too much time, but you can't fault him for scoring.
I think our biggest two problems that weren't on us was that field was messed up and the refs. We shouldn't be playing national championship games outdoors especially after the super bowl 41 debacle. Refs... enough has been said already.
Our biggest problem overall that was our fault is that we got in our own way against a team that could beat us. This ranges from the o line playing their worst game all year to OJ forgetting that we were running a screen to Hootie and tony being lost sometimes. Not bashing anyone because they all overall played good, but pointing out instances that I specifically remember.
I wish we had PAC 12 refs and the game was in Dallas, but we didn't have it that way so on to FSU in 200 something days
His fault. Harris had an easy 1st down. That play was all on OJ. He had a job and didn't do it.Could you blame OJ for catching that not knowing if a defender was behind him for the interception. Even with that if Harris had thrown even a tiny block OJ is still running.
The wind was really blowing the stadium. I believe it was a factor. Mazza easily had his worst game as a bama player.Agreed, every aspect of the team had really strong and really weak moments in the game. Griffith hit his kicks for points, but his kickoffs were ALL poor. Scott had a few great punts and a few horrible punts. Return coverage was very spotty across the board. Receivers dropped a ton of passes, which had to impact Jalen's confidence. Defense had moments of absolute brilliance, including forcing 2 fumbles, but allowed Clemson to convert 7 of 18 third downs while only forcing two 3 and outs.
In short, for whatever reason, Alabama as a team simply didn't play with enough consistency to beat a good team. But you were still good enough to come within seconds of a victory.
Great team. Bad night.
Go back or recall the play I just watched it again. If Harris had thrown even a little block the results would have been the same. There was a lot of confusion right before that play. I won't put all that on OJ. If the ball had been intercepted it would have been blame to OJ. Wish anyone blaming OJ would go back and look at that play again. His fault. Harris had an easy 1st down. No I can't, but it was an instance where we got in our own way.Could you blame OJ for catching that not knowing if a defender was behind him for the interception. Even with that if Harris had thrown even a tiny block OJ is still running.
But I thought only "idiots" would try to run against Clemson. NextYeah, you averaged 6.5 YPC. Every Alabama player who ran the ball had success. Yeah it was a SCREEN play that was intended for Harris. No one is bashing him for catching him, but it was a mental error like the UGA player in 2012.Go back or recall the play I just watched it again. I said up the middle. I also said that you would feast running outside. That is pretty much what happened. Your runs up the middle were far less productive. Your runs outside produced some really big plays. But I thought only "idiots" would try to run against Clemson. Next
