****Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. GSU****

Bleacherreport is a fan blog and nothing more. I never read it. Before our recent upgrade, we had an automatic warning about lack of credibility of that site with every link to it...

Thanks! I am glad to know that info. I wondered why they have somewhat scathing articles at times.

The "articles" by bleacher report are not by actual journalists but just lengthy fan posts...their opinion is worth about as much as mine.

I actually enjoyed this game more than any other of the season. I LOVE watching good option football, nearly as much as I love watching pure :)power running football. :)

RTR

At least you got to watch it!

Not available up here... :mad2:

Of course, I listened to Eli call the game online...

If you listen to this guy, we just lost our chance at the NC: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...rn-tides-hopes-for-national-title-are-reeling.

The following is an excerpt from his article: "Alabama may not have controlled their own destiny, but Georgia Southern had a signature game--despite losing--and have very likely put Alabama back out of the national championship."

As a fan, I dismiss what he is saying. Thoughts?
Dawn , if I were you , I'd block BleacherReport :D As Earle inferred in his post , it's a site with ZERO credibility .

It is disturbing how much clout they are given with Google News, but I believe it is due to their near constant stream of articles.

And I agree, they are basically an amateur site that has developed a few good writers, but even they are not above the insight of the average informed fan. Even less so of comparing them against a knowledgeable fan of a particular team, which I am, and can see this is junk.

Our worries are more related to not having won our division and not having the exposure of the extra game. But LSU will drop one and we'll play either Oregon or LSU in the championship game as the #1 team

Please read my above post. I did not know it was a fan based site. I just thanked Earle for the knowledge.

Hmm... I don't think I, or the others, are lacking in understanding at all. All I was saying, again, is that it would be best for his financial future. He has two small children and their mother to take care of. In fact, a case could be made that it would be selfish of him to stay, no matter how much it might please us fans. He's not a Manning from a wealthy family...

Earle, I'm pretty sure you aren't lacking in understanding, being one of this boards senior mods (and elders). And very well-respected.
There are others who make mention continually of the money factor, and no doubt it is a very big one with the injury possibilities, as you mentioned. But some people (and I'm not saying TR is one, but...) put accomplishment over ANYTHING else; they simply want to be the best. And some want to realize a dream, and for some that is a college degree (I know, he can always get one of those anytime).
didn't mean to ruffle any feathers (?), just saying what may be on his mind. I didn't see the interview, so I don't know how emotional he was, but he's usually pretty well-reserved in that regard. If he got emotional, maybe then as Doc said, that's where this talk is coming from.
Just from what I know and have heard (whatever the right choice for him), I wouldn't bet on his staying or leaving.

Barrett Jones comes to mind .... I hope :) Barrett wanted so badly for Alabama to have the #1 class in '08 that he made it clear to Coach Saban that if there was another player or two the team needed that he would even grayshirt in order for others to sign . We sure could use him @ center next year .

I whole heartedly agree. One can always come back and get a degree later.

Sometimes, injuries, particularly those not made public, are a factor in a player's staying or going. TR would not be in that group, but we have other players who are...

Is it just me, or at some point in the game did you ask yourself, "How did these guys lose to Appy State?" They played a whale of a game. Kudos to our offense.

Y'all would have killed app state even worse. As good as app state usually is, they aren't as good this year. We lost to app state this year because 1. We were the third offense in our conference to run the triple o against them. Secondly, the last touchdown they made to pull ahead of us on replay wasn't a touchdown. However, we don't have replay in fcs. Which sucks sometimes.

That definitely wasn't "East Popcorn State" that Alabama just played. Georgia Southern could have beaten a few teams in the SEC today easily, and given a few others a serious scare. This was a good quality win, against a quality opponent with a lot still on the line, and against an offense Alabama had not really experienced all season.

He can borrow money to purchase injury insurance from LLoyds of London if he desires. I just hope he does what is best for him.

As far as the wishbone is concerned...it is a really good offense if you have strong quick offensive linemen, a penetrating fullback and quick QB's. We rarely got a straight hit on their QB. GSU does -- I was very impressed with them. They should win the FCS National Championship.
